The GBA port of Yoshi's Island is the exact same game.
Nu-uh, it's got no Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy! That makes all the difference! And Believe me, I know people who refuse to play the GBA version because it lacks this feature. Nevermind that it has 8 Bonus levels.
WHAT!? Thanks a lot Mac! I didn't even play it and you already ruined it for me! Good thing it was free.
If i remember right, the whole "can't emulate the SuperFX chip games" thing has never been confirmed, that's just been speculation that has been perpetuated over and over again when the question comes up.
A lot of other SNES emulators can also be very glitchy and whatnot too, I've dealt with them before. And it gets VERY glitchy when running on Yoshi's Island. The Super FX Chip (I think is its name) is the only reason....the Wii simply cannot emulate it, so Yoshi's Island and/or Star Fox never got rereleased. They could fix the issue with the Wii U, who knows.

It also replaced Yoshi's "floating" sound effect with the fairly-annoying groaning noise from Yoshi's Story.

It's a sound theory at least. It took emulators decades to get it down. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo was having trouble with it, too. I hear Nintendo's using a small team, after all.
well, i don`t know why nintendo don`t just release recoded versions of the super fx games instead. i`m sure most people would be happy to buy the whole bunch on a retail disk or individualy on wiiware instead. heck, they could finish up star fox 2 while they`re at it.
Darn Nintendo! How dare they hold back previously-released games!!!!!
The problem is that they didn't release it while there was still strong demand. Heck, I'm sure the demand for it is still there, if only they'd actually release it. I'm sure they could make enough money to make up for the man hours. Unfortunately, it seems they're either saving it, or gave up on it.
If people really want it, they could easily go buy it for the SNES.
That would be inconvenient, though. I'm sure if they absolutely must play it, though could buy it, but there's plenty of people in the middle ground, too.
Of course there is. I was more pointing it at people who complain day after day about not having certain games on the VC.
To be fair, Yoshi's Island SNES and the Quintet Trilogy (lol, just realised how weird that sounds) have a pretty steep price these days. But yeah, I know what you're saying. If they need it that badly, there are other ways to play, even if they're not the best choices.
The Gaia trilogy isn't out because square is really dumb when it comes to digital services. Same reason we still don't have ActRaiser 2, either.
