Hi, i don´t know if this is temporal or permanent but a minutes ago i was checking the VC games in the Wii shop and I noted the Commodore 64 category had only 8 instead 9 games (America region). This games is Boulder Dash. Luckily i download some weeks ago because i´m downloading C64 games but it take me by surprise. I don´t know when this game was removed but i´m sure the last week it was available.

P.D. I had the game and it is very good puzzle.

Might be a hiccup in their system. I have heard of a few times where games disappeared without warning only to be put back on a few hours later. I would just wait and see what happens.

I hope this game get back. The same happened with Super Turrican (SNES) and few days later it came.

The entire Commodore 64 section seemed to be gone when I was buying some VC games a couple days ago, down to 8 consoles instead of 9. (NA)

Wii VC is dead, and Wii U VC is dead on arrival. Nice job Nintendo.

That's the kind of dumb comment I believe we don't need in this kind of discussion.

Right...

With the exception of Earthbound, do you believe the Wii U VC is as good as it could be?

Don't see anybody would want to buy this (At least if they had a 3DS when there is the £4.49 retail game that is a modernised version of it. I believe it includes some of the same levels).

The Wii U VC could be better.

(The PAL 50hz optimised nonsense is not something I will put up with ever again. That means I will get a cheap NTSC Wii now (And cheaply) and what classic games I want. Probably cost about £200. (Incidentically more than a Wii U but not less than a US one. Depending on what is released when it gets to the point where I actually want enough stuff I will decide what to do. Not bothering about pre-n64 stuff at all (excluding Earthbound which I will buy even though I played it on an emulator when I thought it was never going to be released again) might make it better but there is usually at least 5 US games I want more than anything else that are not released in PAL regions.)

But it is not as bad as the 3DS that seems to be deliberately kept back so as to help the stuff on the eshop sell. (For me TG16/Megadrive/SNES/Neo Geo/GBA has stood the test of time much better than NES/GBC). I don't think on the WIi N64 was acceptable.

If the 3DS had 3D Classic versions of some of the Metal Slug games. (Based on the AES versions not the ports) and a few TG16 shmups (Soldier Blade / Blazing Lasers). I would be fairly content.

(Still want the GBA Warioware though. I think I want those GBA ambassador games more than a Wii U. I would pay the same price).

There are problems with both 3DS and WIi U VC (Both could be improved greatly but would likely mean less sales of indie eshop ports which would be fine by me but Nintendo doesn't seem to want that for better or for worse.

Is it fair to declare it "dead"?

I think it is fair to say they are deliberately (For business reasons) releasing things on it more slowly than they could.

I think to help indies but as far I am concerned if a new indie game is not as good as very old classic game then it is not worth playing now or ever.

(Lots of things are much easier now with high level libraries and massively increased performance).

Obviously when one feels that something isn't living up to it's fullest potential, it is dead.

But it is starting to appear as though Ninty wishes to ween off the Wii VC, however, it is unlikely they'll remove the service until the WiiU has most of the games available on the former. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm late for a Disco Party.
