For me, it was escorting Paula home in Earthbound. I felt as if I had been on the adventure with these characters, and I honestly felt a strange sense of sadness and nostalgia saying goodbye to Paula after the long journey. No other game has given me that feeling.

The only one I can remember off the top of my head was Cid's death in Final Fantasy III (VI) on the SNES.

This was back in the days before internet walkthroughs so I didnt know that you had to give him certain fish to keep him alive so when I first played it he died on me. I just remember being sad that I couldnt save him and then getting on the raft and leaving the island with Celes after that.

The end of the Anju/Kafei sidequest in Majora's Mask. In fact, seeing the ways different characters react in the final hours of the three day cycle as the moon is about to fall is really something that moved me in a way that no other game has. Romani/Cremia really hit me hard.

I agree with that 100%. I think the reaction that was the most saddening is the man with the Cuccos on Romani Ranch (forgot his name is) knowing that the moon will fall and begs you to help his Cuccos grow up as a last request.

I think the first one that moved me was in Super Paper Mario. It was at the end of Chapter 7, where Luvbi finds out that she's a Pure Heart and reverts into that form. Just the fact that she basically had to cease to exist (not just die) in order for Mario to save the day, and that her parents were never going to see her again...the whole thing was just sad, and I think I cried a little...which is why completely reversing that and bringing her back with zero explanation post-game completely ruined it >!...Bet you were expecting something Mother-related because of my avatar, weren't ya? Nah, that'd be too obvious.

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

Flint's reaction to his Wife's death. Wow...

That made my jaw drop the first time I played.

That was definitely a moving moment. I think the saddest moment in Paper Mario was in TTYD when Bobbery told you his tale and then thought his days were over.

........Actually I just remembered, games rarely do much to me when it comes to that stuff. I couldn't really think of anything so I just made a joke there, but I just remembered...Rune Factory 4. Never thought I'd actually care about a giant talking dragon, but...>.>

The emotions displayed by the characters are so surprisingly real, and not overplayed at all. It really helps that you get attached to the characters by repeating the three day cycle and completing all the sidequests. Cremia and Romani really hit me hard on the final night with how they react. If I remember right, Cremia allows Romani to have some Chateau Romani (which is treated like alcohol in the game) and then offers to share her bed with Romani that night, knowing full well they'll probably die before they wake up but not wanting to tell Romani. It's really powerful, and one of the many reasons that I love Majora's Mask.

Beating Andross in Starfox 64 and trying to get out of Venom while it explodes, only to be led to safety by the spirit of Fox's father. I almost teared up a little.

In Earthbound, when When Ness and his friends had to have their brains put into robots just to get to Giygas's lair.. Geez, I mean, Earthbound has been released for so long that I've already seen art of the final battle and whatnot, but I never knew about "that".

No Nintendo first-party game has moved me... Nintendo is all about gameplay with little care for characters or story.... that's o.k for genres like platforming but the character and story blandness is the reason I have never been able to get into franchises like Zelda.

I can agree with this. About the only thing Truely moving in a Nintendo game would have to be a Metroid saving Samus. Can't think of anything else in a Nintendo game story wise more moving then that. I don't play Nintendo games for story though.

I thought of the same thing when I was trying to think of a Nintendo game that moved me. I guess the closest would be a Zelda game or like you said @Spoony_Tech Metroid. Most first party Nintendo games dont have much of a story or are multiplayer games like Smash or Mario Kart.

Any emotional and plot heavy scene from Xenoblade. Literally any scene will do, that game just tugs at your heartstrings!

The fact you are reading this proves you are able to have an attention span longer than me. Well done sir or madam!
