mother was a little darker than earthbound, they both have their dark side and funny sides. one thing that stood out to me in mother was you visit yer grandfathers gravestone and later yer grandmother goes to join him in another life. very emotional. i checked every nook and cranny in mother and i finished the game 100% and i like it as much as earthbound

Well it was really one person. That's all it takes. Everyone else only started responding because this thread has been pushed back to the top.
Many people refer to it as being "revived"
I'd only buy the game for its soundtrack. Oh wait we have you tube. Basically the game is over rated. It's not bad, but the fans give it way too much credit.
Oh, i supose it's because it has not very mucha japanases RPG style. The game it's not all about the gameplay (which is arguably more original than some masterpieces like FFVI), it's about the feels this game gives you. It's about a boy who has to save the world. He doesnt want, he ir ordered to. He must stay away from his mom and see things not very much kids could see. A game where things are seen through the eyes os an innocent kid that keeps growing along as his journey. It starts vere happy go lucky but it goes deeper and deeper, until he sees how strong he can really be.
And that's only Earthbound, because Mother 3 is far beyond that, and it's really, really emotive how a chapter can make you week in five minutes without saying any word. Really.
So, the Mother series is not for all, and it's a game that you have to know what are yoy playing. When you see it, you understand. It's a game every kid should play to see how strong they can be, and a game every adult should play to never forget what is to be a child.

Oh, that is nice. Well said. I haven't completed Earthbound. I would say I'm about midway through and only play it periodically when I can devote a large chunk of time to it, but I can say it is definitely a unique game and agree with what you said there.

Let's put more emphasis on this. The problem with games that become so overrated is that people forget what the word means, and begin to rage following the assumption that someone's insulting the game.

Let's put more emphasis on the word fan. A "fan" is someone who has a strong interest in something in particular and will describe their interest with passion. If you are looking for an objective opinion on something then do not only get it from fans. Do I like Earthbound? Yes. Am I fan of it? No.
To blessed to be stressed.
80's music makes me feel fabulous.
What Would Duane Do? Rynoggery
