Anyone remember the Genie's Lamp stage? I sure do.
The PC port of the MegaDrive game was hard on that stage when I was little. Shame it's not on the blase Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Color ports. What's interesting about the Game Boy Color port of the MegaDrive game is that it has a password system (which wasn't available in the original).
The SNES Genie's Lamp stage was a little less harder than the MegaDrive version, but it was still hard. The Genie platforms were awesome. TRUE STORY TIME: at my mom's friend's house, I once paused in the Genie's Lamp stage until I finished my Algebra homework (I wasn't a fan of homework years ago ).
Genie FTW!

01/31/10 EDIT:
Back in early 2009, I downloaded a game on the VC called Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure. I thought it was an underrated game, with cool play mechanics. But do you know what one of the first things I thought of when I saw Pitfall Jr.'s sprites? Aladdin MegaDrive. I also love complex stage designs (they're underrated too). The stage designs remind me of Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow, and Pitfall Jr.'s sprites remind me of MD Aladdin.

I'm actually playing the PC port right now.. I'm stuck at the thief boss on the 3rd stage

Assuming this is a port of the Genesis version (which it sounds like), all you have to do is force him to the right edge of the screen and just keep slicing him until he dies. That's only the mid-boss, though. The real boss (Captain of the Guard Razoul) is quite a bit harder than Gazeem (the mid-boss thief), but still not very hard as long as you don't run out of apples.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.

Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

@Bulbasaur - he's talking about the PC port of the MegaDrive version. The SNES version was never ported to the PC.

When did I mention the SNES? I specifically said I was referring to the Genesis version.

I had the Genesis version way back when, and the difficulty was horrendous. I couldn't make any progress after dying a bazillion times. I've yet to play the Super NES version, and IMO, it doesn't look as fun. Still, the fact that it is physically possible to get past the first level automatically makes it far and away better than the Genesis version.

Genesis had the best version. No debate needed when it comes to this game.

What are you talking about? I have under-average gaming skills, and I don't find it hard at all, even when I was a kid. Even if you have trouble on Normal difficulty, on which the first level is still no problem for me, you can set it to Easy, on which I can easily get past the first 5 levels every time. Even on the hardest level of the game (Carpet Ride through the melting Cave of Wonders), there's an easily obtainable extra life, and they let you go on to the next level if you die 3 times on that level.

@vonseux - ...and handhelds like the original Game Boy and the Game Boy Color (which is more of a remake of the Game Boy game than the MegaDrive game). The Game Boy Color remake was only released in Europe, afaik, I have the cartridge, and I can honestly say that it is very playable compared to the Game Boy original's port of the MegaDrive game. The Game Boy Color also tried to mimic the MegaDrive game's graphical style and the sound-style (though Crawfish has botched the "A Whole New World" theme in the credits; it bothers me, because the original Game Boy port of the MegaDrive game could handle the song just fine), but unfortunately the Genie's Lamp stage and the Abu Bonus Stages were still omitted. I'm pretty certain Virgin Interactive [Game Boy] and/or Crawfish [Game Boy Color] could've been able to remake those stages on a handheld. The Game Boy Color remake also has a password system (which I find mostly unnecessary, as the game can be beaten without one in the first place).
@Mickey - I take it you haven't touched the game in a long time because you could not be able to get past the first stage. I've been able to beat the first stage many times.

Agrabah Market: Aladdin fights guards in the market, in a level based on the "One Jump Ahead" scene in the film. The music is based on "Prince Ali".
The Desert: set in the Cave of Wonders desert, where Aladdin must find half of the beetle jewel that opens the way to the cave.
