Call me crazy, but my favorites are 7,8, and Advance. 7 had the best minigames, 8 was pure hilarity with friends, and Advance had the most addictive challenge ever: Shell Stomp.
Mario Part 3 will always be my favourite and i think thats cuz of the store in it or something but i cant remeber heres hoping a new mario party game comes to the wii and that it would be as good as the 3rd one
I've only played 4,5, 8, and DS, so I'm not an expert. Had a lot of fun with 4, and quite a few of the mini-games were good (though a couple were extremely annoying). It has a good selection of different modes and extra stuff, and I played it the most out of the 4 I've tried. I don't remember much about 5 (since I only rented it), but I didn't think it was too bad. As much as everyone dislikes 8, I really liked it. The character voices are always fun to hear (except for Daisy, too annoying), the motion controlled mini-games are unique and pretty fun, some of the candy has cool effects (how can you not love the Bitsize candy or the WeeGlee candy?), and the Character Selection is the biggest I've seen in any of the games. The DS game is pretty good, too (except Daisy is still annoying). The mini-games made good use of the touch screen and were fun and sometimes quite challenging. The AI can occasionally be a little unfair or off balance, but not always. 4 and 8 are currently my favorites, but I can't say anything about the others since I haven't played most of them.
1: Mario Party 8 2. Mario Party 3. Mario Party 2 3. Mario Party 6 4. Mario Party 5. Mario Party 4 6. Mario Party 5 7. Mario Party 3
Gold goes to Mario Party 8. It has the funniest boards and the best variation of minigames (Wii controls AND classic controls). It also has the best graphics, minigames and the biggest selection of playable characters. To fully appreciate this game you need 4 Wiimotes. At the time this was released on the Wii only few people had 4 Wiimotes and that's why people think it's not that fun. Of course it's no fun with just 1 or 2 players. Mario Party was always about 4 players. But I still think that Mario Party needs an overhaul. The mechanics are the same since Mario Party 1. The gameplay is too slow, and there's too much text to click away, and the game needs some good solo mode options. Honestly, Wii Party seems to be more fun than any of the Mario Party games.
Silver goes to Mario Party 1. It has the nostalgia factor on its side. It was something brandnew back then, just like Super Smash Bros. As being absolutely unique and new at the time, it was very fun when it first came out. It also has the best music.
I've only played the first two games, but I've played them a lot back in the day! I think even more than say, Mario Kart of Goldeneye. I did try Mario Party Advance a bit, and was amused when it asked my secret ("Im Batman!").
On a side note, I recently purchased Wii Party and Im loving it!
