like all xbox 720 news i'm sure this will change within the coming time. and being 6 times more powerful than current gen, and only 20% more powerful than the wiiU isn't a whole lot. They are still easily in the same ball park. not that big of a deal really.

If Microsoft is opting for the AMD Radeon 6000, than this system will definitely be capable of tessellation. This probably also won't make the system too expensive if they opted for the mid-range cards (which should be good enough since it won't be running a desktop OS). This could also make for more accurate physics simulation and AI. I just hope they don't encase it in a cheap-looking box again.

Actually, that's the hopeful prediction. It has a just as good of a chance to be LESS powerful than the Wii U. That's because the CPU is unannounced, and the GPU will be the R6670 or the R7000, in comparison to the Wii U's R6700. The graphics will be slightly worse or slightly better than the Wii U. The Wii U will be using a custom CPU based off of the powerful POWER7, which might be even MORE powerful. The Xbox 720 is a rumor, but is like what happened w/ the Wii U, but the details are a little embarrassing in comparison to the Wii U. And the Wii U was hyped-up, will the Xbox 720 have the not-so-hopeful tech-specs? And did you see the Wii U tech demos? Those were amazing, how could the 720 be considerably better?

Correction: the WiiU will be using the R700 GPU's, which is equivalent to the Radeon 4000 GPU's from a few years ago.

Just you watch. When PS4 is finally announced I bet Sony will boast that it's more powerfull than Xbox 720 and Wii U combined. They get off on making themselves look like the ultimate power in the universe.

In all honesty, I believe this is great news. 20% isn't too much of a difference; look at XBOX 360 and PS3. PS3 is probably 20-30% more powerful than the 360, but nearly every single game by a 3rd party is coming for both systems. If the difference is truly that small, then it would be advantageous on both sides to have similar specs. More 3rd parties would theoretically equate to more people getting the console. Granted, if this isn't true, WiiU will do well enough with first party games.

As long as Wii U is powerfull enough not to be ignored by the bigger third party developers I'll be happy.
The less games that Nintendo misses out on do to technical limitations the better.

Overall, this is looking good. This means that games of next generation can tickle our senses and invigorate us into their world. Just think about it: bigger worlds, more artistic choices, less work for indies, some potential innovation in gameplay with enhanced physics and generalization of the GPU! Just hope it doesn't make developers forget about core gameplay and pure fun.

With the 720 only being 20% more powerful than the Wii U, I can't see it being that big of a deal. I'm sure a lot of third party/indie devs won't be snuffing the Wii U in order to make better 720 games; the resulting losses in sales from not being on the Wii U would not be worth using the 720's extra power...

Yeah, I was wrong, but when I edited my Game Informer posts on the topic, I did some better research and found this. Here's my corrected facts:
The chip the 720 uses (R6670) according to Wikipedia is "essentially re-branded 5770 and 5750, respectively." It says they (5570 & 5750) are comparable to the Wii U's GPU. So the 720 isn't that much better. Yeah, you heard me right, COMPARABLE TO. Ouch.

people don't say its 20% powerful like its fact. it makes you look foolish. but yeah any dev not releasing on all platforms and not exclusive is stupid.

I think the whole concept of exclusive games for only certain systems is stupid.
Do they make exclusive DVD's that only play on a certain brand of player?
I hate when game companies do that.

No that's not what I mean. Sony and Microsoft don't really have company mascots.
Only Nintendo should have games that can't be on other systems.
They are basically the origins of the videogame craze in general. They were doing it before either of the competitors.
I mean third party games shouldn't be exclusive.

if nintendo isn't willing too pay that's thier problem.

also most of those third party games bills are footed by Microsoft and so.y.
and they have mascots.
