@Tsurii Oh you have no idea how high I can go. Glass shattering.
Remaking the first game I ever played, the one that made me want to be a game designer, to create fantastical worlds and creatures and bring that same joy to others that I experienced aged 2?
I may reverse through puberty with this one. @Peek-a-Boo knows this fact about me very well: You mention my little purple dragon, I will appear like a bolt of lightning.
Everyone has that one game. THIS is that one game.
Now Playing: Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Crash Bandicoot 4
@Tsurii I''ll be out throwing hands if its not real XD
Spyro 1 was my first game. It's THAT game, you know? Everyone has that event, that moment, that kinda defines them and they can look back and say THAT thing spurred them on to be who they are.
For me, without doubt (Given my line of expertise and stuff), it's Spyro.
Aged 2. CRT in front of me. Dualshock in hand. Load up the game.
"The Adventure Begins..."
Fade out from black, that rolling drum beat, the camera pans around to reveal the open field of the Artisan home world. Take those steps forward, see the gnorcs frolicking in the grass, hear the familiar sound of Spyro plodding along....then....
BAM! Flash of light, instant cutscene, and a huge DRAGON bursts out of a crystal statue.
And that's why I make games.
Now Playing: Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Crash Bandicoot 4
@Peek-a-boo Apparently you can play as MJ in this as well. (I have a small teeny tiny hope you can can be Exiles verse MJ) Either way I'm dusting off the Ps4...actually this might make me upgrade to a Pro.

Even if Spider-Man underwhelms, the swinging mechanics looks astonishingly good!
They look a bit TOO good to me. I worry that everything in that gif is being done with no input at all.
The Arkham games really pushed up against the line of how easy and automated you can make a superhero without it getting boring. Spiderman looks like it's danger of crossing that line.
Spider Man is the most highly anticipated game that I have to wait for in 2018. Insomniac always does amazing games and Spider Man is yet another amazing addition
I don't get the excitement for Spider-Man. The swinging looks fun, sure, but so was the grappling and gliding in the Arkham games. Those made more sense to me as well, as I can't even tell where those webs of his are attaching to in the footage.
Otherwise, we're left with a AAA open world game that has at least a moderate focus on QTE-driven setpieces. I've yet to see gameplay or even narrative elements that would elevate this for me.
@Ralizah I can only speak for myself but aside from the fact that spidey is one of my favorite superheroes and I'm beyond sick of lego games being the major superhero games (I hate batman so I didn't ride the arkham train) but Spiderman games (when well done) have a certain amount of inherent fun just with how Spidey web swings and fights (spidey is an acrobat but his webbing allows him to hook opponents that makes playing as the webhead very satisfying. That and wandering around NYC (especially if it is to somewhat to scale like Spidey II tried to be) is a joy for some (I'm from the East Coast, NYC is my favorite city) which adds personality in a way that a mythical land or a foreign land (based on perspective of course) in the past or something kinda sorta like a real place but not is. So those things give spidey games an automatic charm with some, add pete's quirky personality the fact that most of those games are lore heavy and usually packed with stuff to do and you have hype.

September is now looking STACKED though... Dragon Quest XI, Spider-Man and Spyro the Dragon are all coming out in a space of just three weeks, if the release dates continue to be when they presently are.
@Octane That’s four big console exclusives for the PlayStation 4 in a single month.
Yes, I am well aware that both Spyro the Dragon and Dragon Quest XI will eventually make their way over to the Switch, but still. It is an absolutely fantastic line-up!
If Super Smash Bros. also comes out in September, then Holy Christmas Batman...
And yeah, that box-art is pretty naff in all honesty. I hope Spyro doesn’t grimace throughout the game!
