Topic: Will we keep our games?

Has Nintendo said anything about keeping our library of Switch games when the next console is released? I only ask because I do have a beastly PC but I would prefer to buy games like Shantae, Shovel Knight, Wonder Boy, Azure Striker on Switch but i don't want to have to rebuy these games in the future or be forced to keep my switch around when the next hardware upgrade comes from Nintendo.

I'm hoping when Nintendo Launches its online service, they will speak about the issue of keeping our games on our Nintendo account. Unless they have already and I've just never heard about it.

@Adamar Unlikely, no system has ever allowed this.

@Octane Not entirely true. All my old Wii download titles are safe and sound on my Wii U, and the DSi could transfer titles to the 3DS. Therefore, there is a good amount of precedent. That said, I agree with your sentiment. If Nintendo does stick with NVIDIA for there hardware and there is backwards compatibility, it isn't out of the question.

@link3710 Wasn't for free though, you still had to pay a fee. If their next system is a Switch 2.0 maybe we'll see something like the Wii to Wii U transfer.

No. You could play all of your Wii downloads from the Wii menu without rebuying them to play on the Wii U side.

@Octane ....That's the "upgrade" versions, Octane....All of the WiiWare/VC games are transferred to the Wii U for free.

@Joeynator3000 Never mind, I forgot about the Wii menu on the Wii U. Now I remember. If you wanted them on the Wii U itself, you had to pay though. That would also be the way to transfer them to the next system, via the Wii U menu. But I don't think that will happen between the Wii U and Switch.

I was hoping for at least the digital stuff....

If they allow for BC I suspect they will do some sort of transfer option...but I don't think they are worried about that right now...got to finish rolling out features for the current system.
