Topic: What's causing Nintendo's software sales on the Switch to be so good?

@Octane I was pretty much making your own point in a more roundabout way. Nintendo's issues launching hardware have held them back.. attach rate doesn't mean too much if you have little to attach those games to.

Nintendo's focus is (seemingly) concentrated on Switch and Switch software, rather than split across two platforms.

Nintendo's market is focused on Switch, rather than split across two platforms.

The Switch is a hybrid console, offering more options for playing than any previous Nintendo platform.

I would say Quality games is what helps but also not doing "CENSORSHIP" doesn't help as some other developer ahem we won't say their name. Trying to put your morals onto buyers won't help makes sales either. I from the getgo said once publishers see the Portable nature of Switch and how fast Indie sales boom - would learn a lesson on how they poorly kiddy treated the Switch and now are jumping on the BandWagon and guess what they are coming faster then the cows come home.

When Wii U & Wii fans and 3DS & DS fans unite to buy only one console, that's when all sales double.
And there are literally hundreds(!) of new developers that never released anything on a Nintendo platform ever, now fully supporting Nintendo. Those draw in a lot of new people that will buy a couple of Nintendo games.

Exceptional marketing of the console itself.

They’ve got Switches into the hands of the audience that buys a lot of games. Beyond that’s it’s just a case of releasing them intelligently.

This is why Nintendo is a Market and Company success that alot of others we won't name couldn't do time and time again.

@Octane Software sales have been poor for basically all 3rd party titles up until now, I think that's what this is about? Suddenly, it's not just that small crop of first party titles doing rather well.

@Magician PS4 might be top dog on attach rates, but considering it's been on the market so much longer that's not saying much. I'd guess the Switch will be on about equal grounds when it's the same age.

@link3710 ''Nintendo's software sales'' presumably means first party titles, at least that's how I understood it.

I think the Switch's big draw is the fact that you can play AAA games on the go. Not only are these games portable, but they run significantly well on handheld. The quality hardly dips when it switches modes, and it's simply phenomenal! It's like playing PS4's Spider-Man on the go, how crazy would that be?! (except its open-world Mario and Zelda games)

I also think the Switch's library helps a lot, too. There is a boatload of Nintendo IPs, and they're all uniquely different. Sure, Sony and Microsoft have their own exclusives, but not nearly as many. They're mostly M rated, fps games that are all the same at the core. The creativity factor from Nintendo is (what I think) separates them from the rest. With games ranging from The Legend of Zelda to Splatoon, I feel like there's a bit of everything for anybody.

I sold my Xbox One as I rarely used it.

I bought a Switch and I have too much to play on it!

Such a great console.

I think there's a relatively obvious answer to this. The Switch launched with a generation defining game in BOTW, then in the next 12 months backed it up with MK8, Splatoon 2, and Mario Odyssey- all high quality evergreen sellers that non core Nintendo fans are interested in. That built the player base.

Now those players have finished those games and are willing to try out the Xenoblades, the Mario and Rabbids, the Fire Emblems and Astral Chains which are also highly rated games. Seems simple to me.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?
