Topic: Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection

@meppi64 @GrailUK I find it reallly, really difficult to move away from the characters that I'm familiar with from SFII Turbo. I've been playing that game on different systems over the years and their moves, combos, how they move and respond have become ingrained in my muscle memory. It's hard to get use to the "newer" characters as I call them.

Allright, that's it! I'm going back to King of Fighters and Virtua Fighter!

Oh, I know what you mean, I've been playing with barely anyone else besides Pai Chan in Virtua Fighter for a good 20 years now.

The only real change I made was with King of Fighters where I started trying out different people I never gelled with, and ended up falling in love with Mature.

@wasilewski There is certainly a different mind set for becoming a pro on different characters. I'm more a jack of all trades, master of none if I'm honest.

@Lroy Well...how do we get Midway Arcade Treasures to Switch. All 3 volumes. Who do we need to speak to?

@GrailUK Yeah, would love that. I've only dabbled with the GameCube Midway collection releases. Would love them to spruced up for Switch. What platform was all three released for? I'd also love the two Taito PS2 arcade collections to come to Switch.

But anyway back to STREET FIGHTER ☺️

I wouldn't mind them making a Mortal Kombat Collection as well.....

@Lroy They released 3 volumes on PS2, GC and Xbox. The third was my fave because it had the dreamcast versions of Hydro Thunder and Rush2049.

That one was great even though there were so few games on it, if only for Offroad Thunder which I think was the only console version of it released I think.

@Lroy my preference goes to Ken/Ryu (any shoto toon goes to be honest), as those are the ones I've played the most both at the arcade a and at home... But I could also pick up Vega now that I know @meppi64 's preferences

@GrailUK @Meppi64 I'll have a root about and see if I can get the third volume for modded Wii (😉).

@RetroGamerAndrew Yeah, I've played with Ryu and Ken the most but recall an etiquette spanning back even to the arcades where it was kind of preferred if folks also had an alternative main so that it kind of balanced things more. Both Ryu and Ken are way too overpowered in many respects. That what makes them so good 😂

@Lroy I actually forgot it came out on Wii. I seem to have 1 and 3 on PS2 and 2 on Xbox. No idea how that happened either. :-/

I was always a Ryu/Blanka guy. I'm still crap with them but I'm better with those 2 than the rest. I like Blanka's electric shock grab, yep I'm one of those annoying types who spams that.

Ken never appealed to me for some reason.

1. For SF II series, i prefer using Chun Li , Cammy , Vega & M.Bison

2. For Alpha series, i prefer Chun Li, Cammy, Juli, Rose, Vega, M.Bison, Guy, E.Honda, Sagat.

3. For III 3rd Strike, i prefer Chun Li, Ibuki, Yun, Elena, Twelve, Makoto, Gill (if any chance to use him)

@meppi64 What came out on Wii? Midway Arcade Treasures Vol. 3? I think that was also GameCube which of course would work on Wii or via emulation using Dolphin for a Modded Wii.

@OorWullie I'm Ryu/Guile or should I say, I was. I haven't played STREET FIGHTER heavily since TURBO came out on the SNES.

With this anniversary collection, I really hope to try out someone new to me and try and use them as my main.

Is Third Strike online? That's the other big attraction of this anniversary set correct? What characters do people recommend outside of Ryu/Ken for that one?

@Lroy Ah, that makes a lot more sense, because if I had the option to buy them on Wii back then, I know I would have picked them up there instead of PS2 or XBox.
Just looked it up. Yep, they were on GameCube instead. I don't think I even saw them over here in the shops on GameCube.
