@bluemage1989 I think Sushi Strikers counts as a new Nintendo IP, but it's definitely not something on the level of ARMS or Splatoon. And while I definitely think it's a good approach for Nintendo to take (i.e. partnering with smaller developers and assisting with their developments) but I hope it's not all they do to create new properties. At the very least, I hope that they release one more new IP on the level of ARMS/Splatoon in terms of ambition.
Mario Galaxy is ten years old, and now I feel old.
Sushi Strikers if it does well could give Nintendo a much needed match 3 entry. I hope they keep pushing support for ARMS. ARMS 2 could be what gets it to Splatoon status.

@NotAceAttorney@ilikeike I'm pretty sure Nintendo already has a killer RPG that can be played by everyone and isn't burdened with complex mechanics. It's called Pokemon.
If there's any genre Nintendo needs to address with a new IP, it's a Western style story driven game. @Orin41@bluemage1989@ilikeike@SleepyOtus my gut feeling is that Retro's new game is a story-driven, Western-like game. It's really the only large gaping hole in the genres covered by their IPs (well besides realistic racing). I have a feeling Retro's game is either a brand new IP or a long-dormant IP that'll be approached in a new way (an IP dormant for so long that it'd effectively seem like a new IP). I also feel that it'll be revealed this E3, so we'll see.
@shadow-wolf
I think it will be very though for Nintendo to create Western style games for their New IP, considering Nintendo is Japanese company that make their games to be sold well by Japanese gamers. Well, at least Zelda BOTW was the one game that felt like Western style games.
Nintendo oftenly give their Japanese vibe inside of their IP, let's say Ninjara with Japanese Temple from ARMS, Japanese theme on Splatoon 2, Sushi Striker, Japanese Castle & Samurai on Super Mario Odyssey, Takamaru Ninja Castle on Nintendoland, Japanese themed furnitures on Animal Crossing, etc.
@Anti-Matter Retro isn't Nintendo, though they are owned by them. They are a Western studio, so if any Nintendo developer can create those Western style games, it'll be them.

@Orin41 Isn't PlayStation more Western based than Japanese? Don't quote me on that, it's something I heard from the Internet and I don't have the time to check right now.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill

Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
I'd love to see more IPs in general from Ninty. They seem to do a good job with that, generally. ARMS and Splatoon have both been great, even if I haven't played them nearly enough.
Maybe something less multiplayer focused, honestly? More of a fan of replayable, single player experiences.
@EvilLucario Sony's Playstation division is headed in California, so technically it's very Western. But at the same time Sony is a Japanese company and the Playstation brand has huge sway in Japan among developers, so it's a fairly even split. PS has plenty of Japanese and Western exclusives, making it a leader in both markets.
Mario Galaxy is ten years old, and now I feel old.
@EvilLucario Which in turn exemplifies why Nintendo should hone in on the Western market, preferably with a tailor-made IP. Sony has succeeded because of this diversity of titles that appeal to all markets. Nintendo's already won in Japan, and it won't be long before they're the undisputed king, but they've still got a ways to go before they meet similar success overseas.
I am very happy that some past portable games will be jumping to the Switch such as the Fire Emblem, Etrian Odyssey, and Mario & Luigi series.
In regards to new IPs, I would love a mesh of different genres such as Puzzle Quest. Another would be a mesh of 2 different IPs such as Persona Q which was a mesh of the Persona and Etrian Odyssey series.
There's really only 3 types of games that I'd really like to see added to Nintendo's lineup:
1. A stealth game. Nintendo really hasn't done a lot with stealth elements. There's been small sections in Zelda that have done stealth, but never a full game. Luckily, this may already be in the pipeline, as Aonuma mentioned wanting to create a game where you play as a thief.
2. A hybrid platformer/beat em up game, something like God of War or Knack. This really doesn't need a new IP though because there's an existing IP that could cover this genre, which is Donkey Kong. This would be perfect for a 3D line of DK games.
3. A sandbox style action game taking place in a city. Think something like Prototype, Infamous, or Watch Dogs. Nintendo really doesn't have a game like this in any way, shape, or form.
Must admit that I don't mind whether it's a new IP or a current one is used, but I would love to see an open world sandbox type game.
I think someone said it earlier, but I think like Sony, Nintendo needs to get some Western Developers on its books for more western games. The formula has worked for Sony, I know people will say they need to take there own path, but if a formula works, use it.
You don't have to go down the same storys and games as Sony, but having more western games would appeal to a lot more people and drive sales. All about diversity.
@EvilLucario XCX is a phenomenal game, and I think that we definitely need more titles like it on Switch. The only problem with it was the almost overwhelming complexity making it too difficult for the average gamer to enjoy. There were far too many systems and too little instruction for anyone but the most seasoned RPG players to understand. If I were to hope for any one new IP, it would be for an open-world game in the style of XCX, just without all the complexity. It would still have customization and depth, of course, just not as overbearing as the Xeno games.
Mario Galaxy is ten years old, and now I feel old.
@ilikeike yeah I had my eye on Xenoblade before release. Watched a few hours of let's plays and was too much for me. Not saying it's a bad game or anything was just very overwhelming not being familiar with the series at all. Much like the "Souls" games for me just not willing to put all the effort required into learning that much about on title. A sandbox game in the vein of Lego City with Nintendo characters or even something more mature like Watch Dogs would be great from Nintendo imo.
