When reviews are going to come?

If you want early reviews you'd be better off looking at reviews of Disgaea 5 on the Vita, the port itself is a decent quality (from the Japanese reports, and is quicker than the PS4 version) which only leaves the game itself which the Vita reviews would cover.

Problem is that as long as i read reviews no one explains in the deep gameplay or all numbers that appear on screen. It seems really complicated if you look at gameplay videos, and since other reviews don't explain it all, i fear it is too much complicated. Obviously my fear comes from the fact that i never played a Disgaea, but i would really like to try it. So i'm waiting for the Nintendo Life review since we are still waiting for news about the confirmed demo. I really hope all things can be cleared soon because i'm waiting for RPGs on Switch since not so many came on Wii U and Reggie time ago teased us about more RPGs coming to Nintendo

Never played a Disgaea game but bought almost every entry (but no limited editions). Hope to get this for the Switch some day, just hope the standard edition doesn't become hard to acquire.

Demo out already in America. Going to come in Europe on 19th. I have to be honest. After watching this trailer i'm not so sure of picking it up anymore. Seems too much complicated and confusionary, with way too much characters to handle, at least to me...i'll use demo to test it, but if i'll like it enough to take it, it will surely not be at full price

I watched some video footage about the demo and i kind of changed my mind again on this...it seems more management rather than creating a party and level it up. And gameplay is really strategical, even more than Fire Emblem. If putted this way it seems not so much confusionary and really interesting lol Seems more a strategy game with RPG elements rather than a pure RPG. Looking forward to this!

I played some of the demo last night. Only scratched the surface so far with two tutorial skirmishes, but it looks pretty great. Everything about the game has a really strong anime sensibility, reminds me of Fairy Tale in some ways.

Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

It's not an RPG, although it does have levelling up and a loose story, but it's really all about tactical attack/defence battling (a la Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, Onimusha Tactics and FF Tactics etc.). If you've played Onimusha Tactics or Final Fantasy Tactics, this is pretty much what Disgaea is (but without the stupid Law system of FFT.

It may look complicated from the vids and screenies (and it IS a complex and deep game), but it's really not hard to play. If you enjoy it, you've got a lifetime of gaming in one little bundle - it really can be played pretty much forever, trying to get all your characters levelled up and almighty.

Also, it's VERY, VERY funny. The dialogue is hilarious, as are some of the characters. It really should be a must-buy if you like Turn Based Strategy games.

@zitpig Yeah i noticed that too. I thought it was more RPG rather than strategical, instead it's the opposite! And by the way yeah i would compare it to FFT, or Fire Emblem too. I'm again getting real interested about this title, also because on a lot of places it is getting really high scores (also thanks to portability, that seems to suits really well for this series). I hope i can get this really soon since right now i'm saving for ARMS and Splatoon 2.

I've got all the Disgaea games on a number of formats and I love them all. Disgaea 2 is my particular fave due to the story and dark humour, but they are all really great games. The good thing about them is you don't have to go too deep - you can just rush through them, or you can just play to level up and 100% everything.

In saying tht though, I'm in two minds about getting this on the Switch, as I already have it (and some DLC) on the PS4. Although, it's not like there are many Switch games vying for my attention that I feel are worth the money (I'm looking at you Puyo Puyo Tetris and BomberMan - both £10-£15 more than they should be (IMHO)).

Oh, it's already out in Germany. Nice. I will look out for it.

I completely forgot this was out next week, Mario Kart and Zelda has really consumed me at the moment.

Unfortunately, Disgaea 5 Complete has been delayed by at least a week in Australia. Almost every post-launch Switch game so far has been subjected to a delay.

I have finished BotW, and the games I want most are I am Setsuna, Nobunaga's Ambition, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms, on cartridge - but since it's questionable if they ever get released here in Europe, Disgaea 5 looks like a good JRPG/strategy alternative. But man, 130€ for the limited edition??? In that case I'll be ok with just the regular cartridge edition, and until the situation of the aforementioned games is clear, maybe Skyrim and Xenoblade 2 can fill out the gaps.

The Japanese retail version of I Am Setsuna contains the English version on the cartridge, so you can just import it. There's even an English cover available in other Asian markets (such as Singapore), but I'm not going to pay an extra $30 just for a slip of paper (they just slipped in an English-language cover over the Japanese one; the English cover even has the CERO rating on the cover). As for Tecmo's strategy games, I think their chances of coming to Western markets is slim to nil (and even in the unlikely chance that they do, I strongly doubt that they will be issued a retail release). Of course, I'd like to be wrong here, as the Switch is in desperate need of a more diverse library, but I guess time will tell.

I think Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence was released on PC and PS4 in the west on retail. I know that doesn't say much, but if Koei Tecmo can release a game on PS4 I don't see why they couldn't for Switch. I mean this and RotTK both came out on Switch in Japan in March - and both are the extended editions (I think it's "Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence - Ascension") Anyway, they are great strategy games on a console that needs some strategy games. And I really want to play them. Nintendo is again pushing their own stuff through (MK8D, Splatoon2, ARMS are everywhere these days). Yes they're great, they're multiplayer, they're online, and they're pushing sales, but these are not the games I'm interested in at the moment. There are other great Switch games that just never get the attention and I would rather spend my time on those. Zelda was great and so will be Mario Odyssey and Xeno2, but until Nintendo's next big adventure it would be neat if there was a "second space" for the other great games to fill the gap for those with different preferences.

I might import those much later down the road, as I will likely do with Setsuna. Do you know if the Japanese retail versions of Nobunaga and Romance have English screentext?

Downloaded and played the demo. Now i spent a lot of time (most of it) reading all tutorial stuff and this game looks awesome, cool and fun. Did the first stage and thanks to tutorial i understood everything! Since it seems the demo was kind of needed, i have to say it really sold me on this game! There's a lot to know, that's true, but it's not overwhelming like i initially thought. Now i will not picking it now since i'm saving for ARMS & Splatoon, but you can bet i will pick Disgaea 5 Complete in the future!

@FGPackers That is good to know! I plan on downloading the demo - though I don't know when I will actually take the time to learn the mechanics. Definitely interested though.

I have played the demo for 4 hours. It seems it starts from the very beginning and is just like the full game but limited to the first 5 stages. The demo doesn't let you save after beating stage 5. So, essentially you can only level up and gain money (HL) in the first four stages. I have 7 characters in my party leveled up to Level 4. The demo has 50+ different items, many types of characters for hire, and about 20 quests. The demo does a great job in just letting you play from the very beginning and give you tons of time and easy stages and explanations to learn how it all works.

I think the main characters are hilarious and fun so far, the story is a delicate mix of light-hearted silliness and serious evil as well as super pretentious and then totally against all rules. The gameplay is great and addicting, and I feel like it's a fitting game for Fire Emblem fans as well.
The graphics are fairly retro though (and this is a PS4 game??) and the English voice-acting is horrible. The demo doesn't have the Japanese voices it seems.

If I had read all there is (there are tons of menus and lore after all) I would have needed another hour. A 5 hour demo, pretty cool. And this is a 200+ hour game if you want to unlock everything?

I wanna go back and play some more rounds and read some more into the help menus.
Will my demo save actually be transferable to the full version?

Never played a Disgaea game either. I love Final Fantasy... I take it this will be a good fit...? Now downloading the demo for tonight at work!

The PS4 demo allowed you to just continue, in the full game, where the demo ended. I expect the Switch version to do the same.

@ncfcrulz Nothing at all like Final Fantasy. The demo should give you a good idea of what the game is like.
