I purchased the digital version of Mortal Kombat 11 and first patch is too big for internal memory of my NS. I do not have a memory card and never intended to buy one as I wanted my NS just for travel and didn't want to outlay loads of cash.
One week in and I can't play the game. What do I do?
And no I am not buying a memory card. I load one or two games on it and just play them so have no need for one.
Try archiving some of the larger cartradge games you don't play often anymore. It archives the save data and updates. Just be wrned that you will need to redownload it to play again.

I do stupid stuff on youtube.com/mysticbros, so check it out if your bored or whatever.
Or don't, it's your time after all.
Thank you for responding. @MysticGengar the game is too big for the NS memory when empty. @TheAwesomeBowser that is okay. I can't have anyone buy me anything, I just wanted the NS for when I am away for work on the odd occasion. I just wish NS were smarter I guess. I can't send a support ticket in as I can't find a way to do it and I have read up and people say they will never give a return on a game. I have thought of reversing it from my bank as I have got a game I can't use but not sure how that will stack up even if legit. Nintendo will just deny it I am betting.
I mean... you need space for the game data. You don't have enough. You won't buy memory. Do you think there's some magical solution to this other than the obvious?
You DO realize Micro SD cards come in different sizes, right? At different price points? You don't have to buy some huge $100 card.
Why lay out $300 for a console and then cheap out on a $10 memory card?
If you want to go without additional memory, don't buy large DIGITAL games.
I get what you are saying Ralizah, why make a console with minimal memory. Why not include a memory card with it. I bought the game not knowing it was going to get bigger one week in
@Bigfish Because they want the Switch to be sold at certain price. You don't want different models depending on the internal storage right like the iPhones.
Also that is the reason I will never buy such games that are not playable from the game cartridge
@Bigfish Flash memory is expensive and more of it would drive up the price of the system. Prices on Micro SD cards continually go down, too. Like I said, I get not wanting to put out the money for some gigantic card, but why not buy a smaller card?
And yeah, sometimes games get large patches/updates after launch. Particularly ones of the Western AAA variety like MK11.
Hmm...well actually I bought a game I can't play so paypal will be the judge I guess.
The thing is I was not to know this game would be bigger than the console i purchased it for. You dont' see PS4 or XBox One games bigger than the internal memory.
Sad case when I can afford a SD card but I didnt not buy Switch to think I need a SD card

This seems like a very strange hill to die on.
Yeah, this ^^
And 32/64GB MicroSD cards are nothing these days - certainly much less than you already paid for MK11.

Nonono, you CAN play the game. That update isn't required to play the game by yourself.
I hope you don't get your money back, because that's just ridiculous. The game's page in the eShop even tells you that more storage may be required for updates. I'm still rocking a 32Gb card I got for $7 at the grocery store. Don't spin it against everyone else, just get a card and enjoy your purchases; You'll have more fun that way.
Edit: That sounds a bit mean, but I’m just being honest.
This is so bizarre. You'll drop $300 on a console and $60 for a retail game, but a $10 memory card is the straw that broke the camel's back.
You'd rather fight with Paypal to get your money back on an expensive game you clearly wanted to play rather than nab a memory card that's likely less than the amount of money you'd pay for your lunch.
@Bigfish If that was the hill you were going to plant your flag on (on SD Card), then perhaps you should have gone physical for the game. I picked up a 64 GB SD Card myself, but even then I knew I wouldn't be putting a lot of large digital purchases on it because outside of Nintendo, it seems no one can make good AAA games that don't eat storage space.
@Bigfish Digital and no microSD card is a full on no go, it's never going to work. If you want to avoid using a microSD card then you need to go for physical wherever possible and avoid 3rd party games completely (buying physical MK11 wouldn't solve your problem as you have to do a mandatory update for the physical version which is most of the digital game's filesize).
The most reasonable option though would be to buy a microSD card and go physical where possible.
