Did anyone else besides me notices that when you bought a eShop games that later it becomes a physical release? I know of two that did this to me and that just **** me off. Spent good money only to find out later they would release a physical version of the game but gives no refund back knowing full well they screwed those whom bought digital to find out now it's got a Physical Release. Others I waited for Amazon UK to find the exact same game but a Physical Release. Why is only in the European market do they get Physical Release for the Switch but the US market gets only eShop downloand. In Amazon US, I was able to cancel the Lost Sphere Digital Games to be able to buy from Square Enix for the physical game. So are the US market Nintendo Switch buyers getting screwed over? Now when I see a Digital download unless I find the Physical release I am not buying them. I seem they show up as Physical release in Amazon UK or GR.
The two that screwed me over and leaving a bad taste to buying Digital Games now are:
Snipper Plus
The Coma: Recut
So if anyone else is seeing the game being played list the games so others will not buy from them until they stop screwing Switch buyers.

Well afaik, for snipperclips, at least if you buy digital you get all the extra stuff for physical for free???

Idk about "shafting" though, you are still spending less for digital than physical... ^^;;

not sure why super angry though, maybe it's just my pov, I guess.

There is nothing wrong if you want Digital I won't stop that it's the Fact they came out with Physical release knowing full well Gamers like me Like and Want physical Games they take up less space and allow you to play on other Switch consoles if you don't have yours with you. That is why Digital adds digital Barriers and if your MicroSD is too small it will not hold enough Digital games. These two are the biggest downsides to portable Gaming.

darkfenrir

@SwitchForce Yeah but... like, I don't know. I just don't understand why so angry, I guess.

Like, if you like physical... just never buy digital? No matter how good?

I just find that it's silly to be angry at developers when they released physical... it's like angry when a new type of phone is released the moment you bought the older version.

I dunno, maybe it's just me.

Sure I am pissed and angry this is why I now don't buy eShop games that I suspect will become Physical release. Why waste my hard earn money getting scammed twice for the same game. Like other posting that I did-I can find the exact same eshop game as Physical in the European market. Trust me I bought eShop the best ones is NewKingdom and StarDewValley best money spent. But there is a limit to digital when your SD is only so big and other games does their updates space will get smaller. I got 200gb and now going to 400gb because some of my games and their DLC is eating up SD storage space.

Uhhhhhhh, okay, I don't think scam is the right word...

scam
skam/Submit
nouninformal
1.
a dishonest scheme; a fraud.
"an insurance scam"
synonyms: fraud, swindle, fraudulent scheme, racket, trick;

Uh huh, it doesn't sound like scam, unless magically digital games give you less content than the physical. Then it's scam.

It's weird to be angry at the devs that they want to release it in physical... After all, there's no hard rule that digital only games can only ever be digital and can't change their status of digital-only to have physical...

But yeah, maybe from now on it's better to just wait forever to see if there's physical then, might be better for your emotions too.

It is a scam...why make Digital only to release a Physical version later and not refund buyers whom bought the digital version. That to me smell like scam if they wanted Physical then tell buyers your going to make a physical release and then those wanting Digital can buy the digital and those wanting Physical can choose to buy the physical. It's not that hard-the switch is the go to Console now and Indie and Game publisher are getting on the Switch.

I might be saying something irredeemably stupid here, but... Just play the digital version you already own then?

Now you see, evil will always triumph, because good is dumb! >:D

darkfenrir

??? I don't understand this logic...

If they let you refund outside of the refund policy, then how are they going to be sure???

There's no way they can be sure you'll buy the physical version. All they know is they are refunding out of the refund policy. In the end they still need money to work. Otherwise how can they make games??

Idk man, feels like you are throwing temper tantrum by now. I understand feeling like physical > digital and disliking digital. But if you bought digital, that implies you agree on whatever baggage that digital throws at you and stuff.

If you hate it so much, why did you even bought them...? @_@

@SwitchForce, usually the developers of the games don't have any plans to release a physical copy, but after the game is a critical/sales success then a third party will step in and offer their financial support to publish a physical copy.

That is when it comes to indies though.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

No it's not stupid if you want the digital go and buy it but if you want the physical version buyers should be given a choice. I buy for having physical version but also for to collectors value and to choose what device I want to use it on. That what Physical version gives you not the Digital version.

One didn't even read what I wrote but are reading between the lines instead.

@darkfenrir I think disingenuous is more appropriate word. If a publisher withholds information about a physical version at the time of releasing a digital then it is apt. If it has a negative impact on the relationship between business and customer then I would even view it as dishonest. At the very least they are not being sincere.

If nobody bought the digital version, there wouldn't even be a physical version in the first place.

Actually some of those were from Indies that released eShop then suddenly without saying anything made Physical release. Physical cost more to release but if it does comes physical later they should at least do some amends to those whom bought Digital and say we will cancel your Digital and apply that purchase towards the Physical release. I think that will go along way towards goodwill and garner more Gamer's interest allowing them better feedback. It might be only one game but if the Physical is being sold at 40-60USD. I myself would gladly pay the difference from what if one bought the digital to get the physical verison. And make a Pre-Order list that will give buyers a chance to buy the physical version. Alot of Software Developers shamed Nintendo Switch as antiquated against the Xbox and PS4 but wow suddenly now they have interest to make Switch Games. Just look at PayDay2 it wasn't for Switch and suddenly with the Market rise of the Switch everyone is going for the bandwagon when they were against it in the First place. Nintendo was always a innovator and doing the hard work and has proven True again that their innovation was backseated by everyone until they saw the success and now are singing a different tune. Put this way you can't portable Xbox or PS and this is why Indie and Software Developers are jumping on the bandwagon now they can take it on the road the interest to buy games becomes more and more and isn't tied to being just at home. This is the True Innovation of the Nintendo Switch and with the Docking Station makes the value even more valuable. Nintendo was always willing to go where others were afraid to go and when others can't believe the NS success.

Actually it's called pre-order interest-make a Demo and see what the interest are and ask if they want a physical version like Octopath is coming in Physical but had a Demo to get interest in the game. Demo goes along way to get buyers hooked. So if the Demo experience is lower - going Digital would be fine but if the interest and Pre-orders goes more then expected then a Physical and Digital would be in the plans that would insure more buyers for either choices. This way you don't expend more funds then needed if the Digital is the route to go. That's called Business 101.

@GrailUK Hmmm I suppose. But how do we know that they have plans since the beginning, I guess?

Since I'm not in game publisher land, I suppose the only way is that I'm mostly speculating this, much...

but idk, I just feel like in general it feels... weird to scream about it. It's like a book went from digital and becoming paperback and then people are screaming, "nooooo, this is a scam/disingenous!!!"

Make a Demo like Octopath. Demos goes along way to make Gamer's want to buy. But like I said if the interest is only Digital then go Digital but if they show interest in Physical version then set a Pre-order and inform buyers if they reach critical max then this will be made that at least will give them heads up to know what path to go or not go. I for one made a Pre-order for Octopath even though the release is end of 2018 but I was willing to put funds to the pre-orders. I do have Octopath physical pre-order on Amazon US and the only time I would cancel the Physical version pre-order would if they no longer made that offer on Amazon US.

@SwitchForce Well in that case, I would say the best way is to contact devs yourself and tell them that. ( o-o)

That's what I did for FE the latest Digital release. It was what I wanted but I told them if they had both options I had no problem buying the physical version. So knowing this I would wait.
Here's what they replied back:
Hello

Thanks for getting in touch. We'd love to a physical version of Fe some day but at this time there are no plans for any other version than the digital

With kind regards,
Mikael
