So I entered my real age in to my switch(15). I noticed I can't look at m rated games on the eshop which is fine as I usually get physical copies of all my games anyways. But I found myself in possession of. Assasins creed: the rebel collection, for Nintendo switch, as of the holiday season. So Assasins creed black flag came on the cartrige, right? I had a lot of fun playing through it and the dlc, but then I decided I wanted to play Assasins creed: rogue which also came in the rebel collection, but did not come pre-installed on the cartridge. But when I tried to install it, I was blocked by the age restriction. This makes me very angry seeing as I was expecting two games and I have heard rogue is very quite good. How can I get past this age restriction?
P.s: my parents are totally fine with me playing m rated games.
@steelstruck My parents would have been fine with it. If you can go on accounts.nintendo.com and log into your Nintendo account, you can change your age there.
Even if you change the age, you may still need to disable parental controls.
LOL M ratings on games! Anyone remember the good times when this crap didn't exist? I played the original mortal kombat when i was 12 and nobody tried to stop me. Then one day some ignorant old fart decided videogames are why kids started shooting up schools and now my 40 year old ass has to be carded for buying a damn videogame like it's cigarettes or something!
This dork at gamestop pulled that on me the other day in fact. I got obvious gray hairs in my beard and he's like I'll need to see some ID? I was probably old enough to be his father.
Okay sorry if I'm starting to sound like an old grandpa but man that really grinds my gears!

Exactly! I remember playing pacman as a child and I didn't grow up to bounce around a darkened room with flashing lights, listening to repetitive beepy electronic music and popping pills.
They are required to ID. Retailers can be fined if they don't and yes the ESRB sends in secret shoppers to make sure they do it. Just take it as a complement and keep it moving.

On my Nintendo accusations mine is the only one and I put my real age on it so even though there are no parental controls i still can't download it. Would making a new account with a fake age adding that to my switch and turning parental controls off work?@Tasuki
@Zeldafan79 : I figured that stupidity ran rampant over in the States, but dear God Almighty...
A man of 40 being asked to present ID? Just how tight and luminous is your skin?!
The odd grey in a beard isn't really a giveaway though, especially if your hair is still lively and full of colour. A lot of people in their early 20s have the odd grey. I even stumble across the odd RED hair in my beard from time to time. I've noticed white hairs popping up since my early 20s. I have a big head of curls though, so they aren't particularly noticeable, fortunately (though I do pull them out sometimes ).
But being mistaken for 16 or younger? You should be flattered.
@Silly_G
I just rolled my eyes and thought you gotta be kidding me! The guy had to know i should have been old enough. I'm actually quite more gray than most people my age. He was just being all by the book and gung Ho about the rules i guess.
Last year my 69 year old dad tried to buy cigarettes at a dollar general store and got carded. He was pissed and stormed out after verbally expressing his disgust and i think the whole store heard him.
At that age i guess you have a low tolerance for BS LOL!
@Zeldafan79 I had to show my ID at a GameStop when I bought Red Dead 2 for my son. The employee wasn't rude about it just laughed when he saw me (I do have grey hairs in my beard and thinning hair). He said "Well, I can tell you are over the age restriction but I still needed to show my card for their system.".
I know having worked security in the past, when we do aduits we are taught to even go back and look at the cameras to make sure employees are doing what they should. So even to the clerk I looked well over the age restriction on camera all they see is someone getting a copy of RDR2 without being carded and that employee gets in trouble and possibly fired.
I know some systems in place the employee has to scan an actual card to proceed with the purchase and some you have to put in an actually birthday and the employee can't just use theirs.
I know it can be a bit annoying but you and your dad just need to chill. It's not the clerk's fault or the company, if anything it's the politicians and after all who voted for that politician and put them in office???
But I digress the point I was making was that it's due to a system the company has in place due to laws that's all.
