@RR529 I think it's RNG based. It's possible you're just having bad luck.
Last night one of my villagers asked me to catch a citrus long horn beetle for him, I thought it'd be easy since I see them on stumps so often I usually ignore them. But as soon as he asked me, I saw none for like 45 minutes. RNG can be a dick.
@Heavyarms55, yeah, when I played it again they were back, though coming from the other shore.
Got one more Cherry Blossom recipe (the Wall Clock) & two more Spring Bamboo recipes (Basket & Doll), bringing my totals to 9 & 6 recipes, respectfully.

@Heavyarms55, the Lantern & Stone Pond thing are the only 2 Cherry Blossom things left that I really want. I have both of the Floors, 1 of the Walls (there's 2), the Bonsai, the Branches (potted plant), Petal Pile, Picnic Basket, Umbrella, and Wall Clock.
As for the Young Spring Bamboo stuff, I have the Wall, Pan Flute, Wand, Basket, Doll, and Bamboo Noodle Slide (this one goes really well with the Outdoor Bath recipe you can redeem with Nook Miles).

Since one of the more annoying aspects of this game are the different colors of items--and not even being able to order unless you've already had it--and it would be too tedious to list all the colors you have/need/want... What if you just have all the items on the ground, and the visitor could just pick them all up, and them drop them--so it should count (I know it did in New Leaf) as having it, and then you could just order what you wanted afterward.
Of course you would pick up stuff you already had, but you'd also get a bunch of stuff (at least variations of it) you didn't have, and it would be a much faster way of adding it to your catalog.
Anyway, if someone wants to try this sometime, let me know and I'll set it up.
@Blaze420 No, but that's the idea behind this, not to worry about the micro, and instead focus on the macro, and that way, you can save time not picking and choosing.
Basically, anything that you can buy falls under this concept.
It looks like the best layout is to set them in 3x3 squares, pick everything up, then dump it all at once, then move on to the next square, and repeat until done.
