Kinda like how we call Brits "Poms" (to much winging from the winging Poms)
No-one in Britain winges when you call us Poms, we don't even take it as offensive. Like with all things to do with Australia, we treat you as our little brother, we ruffle your hair, we don't take you seriously.
I finish a game (credits) then I complete it (100%). I'm afraid I've never 'clocked' a game either, haven't got a clue what that's about, is it a southern thing Trin, where ya from?
Starting to think it must be, as it's pretty standard around these here parts.
Beat...finished...completed...all of the above. I only seem to get "clocked" when I'm doing like 100 in a 55.
But I have an extremely short attention span when it comes to games...so I rarely complete any of them. I'm trying to do better though! When I do manage to beat a game, I usually break out into a little ditty and dance that goes a little something like this: [youtube:0UQNVjD_-lY]
"Beat" makes it sound as though the game was your opponent rather than your partner in enjoyment. I think that term is best used for adversaries and fur seals, myself.
"Beaten" - The main objective has been accomplished. Usually marked by the defeat of a final boss and/or viewing of credits. "Completed" - For games which are 100% done. All extras and modes have been unlocked and finished. All significant items have been collected.
I sometimes use 'perfect file' as well, for having a save game that you can't improve upon, in any way the game records, anyway.
So my Link To The Past save game with all hearts, all equipment, 999 Rupees, all dungeons fully explored, all caves open, 4 bottles of Blue Potion, 0 games played on the file select screen, etc = perfect file.
