Why am I here, you ask? Well, I would ask the same question, actually.

for reals, probably more retro

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Post-modern pre-retro gamer myself

I'm far more a retro gamer as I'm easily seduced by nostalgia. I mainly own the Wii for the VC. If it had not been for the VC & Brawl (which is after all largely a celebration of Nintendo's past) I almost certainly wouldn't have gotten one. That said, I have enjoyed modern masterpieces such as Galaxy since the initial purchase.

Definitely more retro, even though I like most any game. I especially enjoy games that usually get overlooked and occasionally games that are heavily criticised. Gotta love nostalgia.

On Wii I'm definitely a retro gamer. I bought a Wii mainly because of the Virtual Console and the Nintendo exclusives (Zelda, Metroid, Mario). I don't care about WiiWare (and casual games) at all. For modern games (retail and download) I have my Xbox360 (and soon a PS3).

Me too.

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matt. 1:21.

I don't like labels. I just play video games that I like.

A gamer. Period. Labels are for nerds.

@buffalobob
Wouldn't being called a gamer be considered a label?

I would have said retro gamer a couple of years ago but you can only play so many retro games, i.e there's only a finite amount of retro goodness. So more recently I've been getting into the more modern releases like MW2 and Assassins Creed 2. It's interesting to see how far games have come, but also how little games have come on. Some people think modern games are to violent, here's a quote I saw recently that made me laugh:

On whether violent computer games affect children: “If Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive electronic music” – Marcus Brigstocke XD

Both, but mostly retro.

So many good games, so little money to spend.

A modernly retro gamer. I like games that use modern technologies but go back to the simple controls and ideas of the old-school variety.

To be honest I'm 50/50
Classic retro games are awesome but modern games are also great
