I saved 1500pts from buying 5 sega game sales plus the wiiware I bought that were cheaper than UK like Bubble Bobble Plus, Bust-A-Move Plus, Arkanoid Plus and more so Im not sad about this at all. We have it better with most Wiiware prices so why complain? (No offence UK)
I think it works the same as Animal Crossing. I had a friend that didn't have wiispeak but he could still hear me talk. To talk on Uno you must have their Uno fc AND Wii code.

Yeah, the UNO Wii Speak implementation is a bit crap; especially not being able to hear friends of friends like The Conduit or the Wii Speak Channel itself. Very annoying, especially for the person who has the other people registered and has to hear them talking over each other, I'd imagine!
They did you all a favour in trying to discourage you from buying the game.

Or buy a $3 deck of Uno cards or a $5 deck of licensed character Uno cards.

Well, that assumes you have friends to play with.
I see the value of card games in digital form - I play Clubhouse Games all the time because it's hard to find 3 people for a contract bridge session sometimes.
