Wed, Dec 07, 2011 | 22:13 GMT THQ lowers Q3 expectations by 25% due to weak uDraw sales on 360 and PS3
THQ has updated its outlook for Q3 2012 ending December 31 by 25%, due to lower than expected sales of its uDraw tablet for PS3 and Xbox 360.
The company now expects to report net sales of $510 million to $550 million.
“Despite uDraw’s strong success on the Wii in fiscal 2011 and market research indicating strong demand for uDraw on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, initial sales of our uDraw tablet and software on these high-definition platforms have been weaker than expected,” said Brian Farrell, THQ president and CEO.
“WWE 12 and Saints Row: The Third are expected to perform at or better than the levels we discussed on our fiscal 2012 second quarter earnings call. As we continue to move through the third quarter, we are focused on driving sales of our key holiday titles and maximizing profitability.”
THQ expects to announce Q3 2012 results in early February 2012, and to provide an update to its Q4 and full year guidance at that time.
$0.09 a share.
Wonder who's going to buy them or the Ip's. That WWE contract and a few of the other games could make lots of money in the right hands. (EA)

This isn't really surprising. THQ hasn't made a AAA IP in years.
Homefront is a great example of that.
They only had a few Ips that sold.
Drawn to life WWE games
Beyond that they had a lot of good cult status Ips. While these aren't real big in the hands of someone with better marketing they could be great . Also I know EA is looking to add WWE to the EA spots series.
Darksiders Metro Saints row
Hopefully this doesn't affect the south park game or Del torro's.

Saints Row, WWE, and Darksiders will be sold in a heart beat. I'm sure many publishers what those franchises (Activision, EA, Capcom, etc.). As for Metro, well, that hasn't really lifted off so I can't see it going anywhere.

Its one of those things were you buy it just to own it. The Game is almost complete. All you have to do is release it.
adding insult to injury Today THQ lost the European publishing rights to the Witcher 2 to Namco Bandai.

Hooray kill THQ dead! I hope Activision picks up WWE so they'll run it into the ground and close it down
What. All lot of people will lost their jobs when this happens. Also an IP like WWE doesn't get run into the ground. No matter how crappy they get people will by them.
Could see EA going after WWE. They already do

Homefront sold really well, though? Oh right, I forgot, this is Nintendolife where a company survives on dies by how awesome people think the games are, not actual, you know, sales figures.
It's also worth noting that that 25% revised down sales expectation was on THQ's expectation that it would be the best sales period ever for the company. So. Now it's more or less normal.
Don't look at value per share. $0.09 per share doesn't necessarily mean a company is struggling - THQ didn't have overly expensive shares in the first place.
In conclusion: THQ isn't really in a position any better or any worse than any other games company out there - they're all struggling.

^Yeah, I don't see how you came to that conclusion other than "I don't like that he's right some I'm going to find some way to belitlle him". Christ...
"Our two biggest quarters of the year remain ahead of us, and we are focused on execution. In Q3 we are planning for the largest quarter in our history, in terms of sales and earnings, driven by Saints Row: The Third, the uDraw GameTablet, and WWE ’12."

Exactly. And THQ just went through a strategy refocus and consolidation down of staff and development studios. It's going to take a while for the profit-and-loss ledger to normalise (and the share value with that).
For what it's worth, if anyone cares to listen to my reading of the matter, THQ's in a better position than some other publishers.
Personally this doesnt surprise me I remember back in the day of SNES THQ made a bunch of games now the only thing I know that they do is the WWE games. I am sure that if THQ goes under Vince will make a deal with some other company just like TNA did when Midway shutdown.

Grand Slam Tennis was a one-shot game, and NBA Live/NBA Elite was killed off a year ago when it couldn't compete with 2K Sports' NBA game.
And that's sad that THQ is in danger of going out of business. I just bought Saints Row The Third, and in my opinion it's much better than GTA 4 (in every way). uDraw was quite successful on the Wii, not sure why the other versions didn't sell well... I figured now that Microsoft nabbed all those casual gamers with Kinect, there would be a large enough market for uDraw on the Xbox 360.
