Topic: Popular Games You Have Never Played But Others Have

Name a video game or a few you have never played before but is quite popular with other people or a game you wanted but never bought.

As for mine, I'll just say any big online multiplayer game.

Since I have tendency to play unpopular / underrated games, there are a lot of popular games I don't play since I don't like most of popular games due to clash with my personal taste.
I only play LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER but don't like other LEGO games since they used popular Western franchises like star wars, marvel, Avengers, etc that I never like them.

But, for quite popular games that I haven't bought yet, I still haven't bought Kirby Forgotten Island since last year as I prefer hunting for 3rd party games than 1st party Nintendo games.

Popular, But Never Played: Any of the Assassin's Creed games. Just... no interest whatsoever.

Wanted, But Never Bought: I buy most games I'm interested in, but I'll admit that, despite a fair amount of interest, I haven't jumped on the Atelier Ryza games yet.

@TeaCatherine Bad writing. Strong level design, mechanics, music, etc. Not bad games by any means.

Popular games I never played: Most games that never ended up on Nintendo when they were relevant tbh (and the majority of the exceptions to this day are specifically from the Xbox or 360 era). Notable Nintendo-y examples would be the non-GBA Fire Emblem games, every first party casual era game except Wii Sports games and the original Nintendogs (unless you count Animal Crossing, which I don't) and the M rated Rareware games.

There's plenty of games I wanted but never bought but it does stand out to me that I really went all in on trying to support the cooler games from the "we all decided the Wii is bad" era of gaming (the worst era of gaming), but never got around to games like Rabbids Go Home or Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

I have never played Skyrim. Part of me wants to give it a try because I always hear about it, but it just doesn't look that appealing to me for some reason.

Elden Ring. To be honest though. There are so many popular games that I have never played and probably never will, simply because each individual's interests in gaming are different. That is one of the best things about this hobby. And there is a good chance I never will get around to playing some of the popular games other people have played. The path of life is unpredictable.

I didn't play Fortnite and most of the Call of Duty games, even though those games are mega-popular. They just don't interest me. I did play CoD2 on the Xbox 360 many years back, but that's it. The game just didn't click with me so I didn't bother with the rest of the CoD series. I also didn't play any of the Elder Scrolls games, such as Skyrim. I did briefly play Fallout New Vegas on PC, but I'm not sure if that game would be my thing, either.

As for games I wanted but never bought, I've been thinking of getting the Konami Rebirth games, as well as DoReMi Fantasy, but never got them. Too bad, especially since the Wii Shop Channel closed back in 2019. Hopefully they'll see rereleases on the Switch in some form in the future.

Fortnite, Apex Legends, Dead by Daylight, Team Fortress 2, Pokkén Tournament

@Ralizah Oh, yeah, I knew those upsides, I just thought "everyone" decided it was bad game overall.

Never touched Fortnite and Minecraft

I actually had Fortnite downloaded, but never even bothered booting it up, at some point I deleted it to make space

Fire Emblem, I have never seen the fascination with RTS style games but after playing Midnight Suns all weekend and falling in love with it, I think I may check out some of the older FE games see what the fuss is about - if I can find them cheap enough to take a punt on at any rate.

Small turn based arena battles followed by stat management and deck building ready for the next fight. I dont know if it opens up more later, I've only just got Morbius and Wolverine added to my party but really enjoying it so far.
I did try Disgea 5 but got bored relatively quickly.

Fates is a mixed bag. The game mechanics are fine, arguably superior to Awakening in a lot of ways and the starting point for things that were only fully realized with Three Houses.

It just suffers from some terrible writing, one note characters, and an overabundance of fan service. It's not the only Fire Emblem game with those problems but the earlier ones tended to leave more to the player's imagination. Engage is copping a lot of similar criticism, for what it's worth.

Call of Duty. This is cheating because I loathe fps games but it fits the topic.

Most of the CoDs; the last one I played was MW 2 back in 09'. Most of the Pokemon; I've played Red/Blue, X/Y, Shield/Sword...and that's it. Resident Evil 4; although I recently changed the control options on the Switch version and so I might now give it an honest try. As I'm a console gamer I've never played most MMOs. WoW, Guild Wars, EVE Online, etc.

I don't like competitive multiplayer, so I've never played Fortnite, Counter Strike, PUBG, etc. Even though I've owned a PS4 since its launch I've never played the God of War games, the Spider-Man games, the The Last of Us games, or the Horizon games. I haven't owned an Xbox since 2012, so I've missed everything exclusive over there from the past decade.

I never played The Pokémon BW games and Kirby’s return to dreamland.

The Persona series. The most I got is Joker's amiibo and his pack in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Don't sell yourself short, I didn't play Return to Dream Land on Wii either.

Name any hugely popular western developed game and there's a good chance I haven't played it. Elder Scrolls, Souls, Bioshock... the list goes on. I have acquired some over the years through Humble Bundle and such but never gotten around to actually playing them. I have nothing against them but I feel at home with the games I do play that I always have something else to play.

As for something that's more in my ballpark, I'm yet to play Persona. I've played SMT but not Persona. I was busy with Xenoblade and Pokémon last year so my plan was to get Persona 5 early this year and play it before Zelda comes out but I still have my hands full with stuff to do, in gaming and life in general. I'm currently continuing from where I left off in BotW so I'm at least caught up on that front. Which reminds me I've never played a Warriors game. I'm curious about the story stuff in Age of Calamity and Three Hopes but the gameplay isn't for me.

Games I want to play: Paper Mario ttyd, chrono trigger, Octopath traveler 2, ssb melee, FE 3 houses and engage, Persona 5 royal and 4 golden, Zelda WW and TP, pokemon black, ruby, and fire red, and more that I forget
