(due to the more-or-less linear nature of Pokemon, I don't think full 3D is possible gameplay wise.)
Okay... In that game, we can't even travel on foot between the towns, thus no wild pokemon and stuff. Those little fences in the 2D game seem huge because of the helicopter view illusion, leaving their height ambiguous. In 3D, being blocked by a barrier half your size would be pretty pathetic. Those are some issues that can't be resolved.
Personally, I enjoyed R/S/E much more than all the others. B/W definitely brought way more ability into battling, though. You think you know what you're going to do, then another right after you get it together. It's making the competitive battling much more complicated... but is that good or bad long term?
