Topic: Mature titles and their hold on you(or lack thereof)

This past Ubisoft sale made me realize that I've lost my thirst for mature games. The games in their sale had AC3, blackflag, and Splinter cell on sale for 10 bucks. A steal. I thought to myself that I'm gonna get them. I took another look at their trailers and the content within and just felt unenthusiastic about them. Then I saw Child of light and bought it immediately and have been playing it since. Maybe it's because I have a kid now but I haven't had the urge to play a Mature game in a long time. I used to love Ninja Gaiden and it's awesome gameplay, gore and other stuff. Same went with Gears of War series and others.Maybe it's a phase and I'll get back to it eventually. I'm more into nintendo games now. My significant other got me CodeName Steam and I've been all about it lately. Smash is perfect to release some aggression for me instead of making swiss cheese out of somebody in Halo for example. Anyone here feel like that? If not, those on the opposite spectrum?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Most the M-rated games I've seen out there are gore-fests with curse words in every sentence. Only reason I played and enjoyed the Bayonetta games is because it reminds me of Okami somewhat. Also noticed some of them focused on realism or whatever...if I'm gonna play an M-rated game it's gonna be sci-fi or fantasy or something.

There, quoted the whole works.

I own literally two games that are rated M right now (possibly three if you count one of the options of Papers, Please). Both of those are the Assassin's Creed games for the Wii U.

Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)

I do go through "phases" of liking one kind of game or another but it's never tied to the age rating on the box. If anything I go through phases of liking story driven games and more endless "arcade" style experience. For example occasionally I might get into story based games for a while and clear through a bit of my backlog. Other times I'll not be interested and just play games like Smash Bros and Rocket League

These replies are so cringey.

Gamers who don't care what they play are like fat people at the all you can eat buffet.

I like going to buffets, I feel thin and healthy.

Anyway, about the topic. I rarely look at the age rating in games, seeing how I'm older than 18... I kind of already enter all the age ranges they encompass, but it's not like it was ever a priority or problem.

Though looking at my gaming collection, I guess I tend to gravitate more towards the E ratings.

I've lost intrest in AAA titles which almost all of them seem to be mature at the moment but I'm still got an appetite for over the top violence in games.

it's probably because M-rated games are dominated by Triple A gaming (and vice-versa) and most Triple A games have been the same for the past decade. The literal only exception in terms of an actual trend of games would be Telltale-like or Horror games, the latter of which has been run into the ground.

The last Phoenix Wright game was M-rated, which meant basically nothing in comparison to other games in the series.

This. Plus, usually all those "mature" games can't catch my attention. I have AC3 and it isn't my cup of tea. I'll stick to Bayonetta.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

I don't play M-rated games much, but that's often because they're also mostly AAA games. And it's hard to describe, but Triple-A titles in general (M-rated or not) put me off because they always feel overproduced and lifeless...like a Top 40 song. I don't mind some non-AAA mature games though. The Deception series is probably the best example I can think of right now.
