And the 5th or 7th (Ive heard both) worse earthquake recorded in the world since 1900.

[21:15] theblackdragon: lol OB
[21:15] pixelman: OB knows what he's asking about.
It's hard to think that an earthquake on the other side of the world was so hard that the water moved by it will be here in some hours.
What's scarier is that a magnitude 8.9 earthquake is about 1.41 Exajoules of energy. That's 1,400,000,000,000,000,000 Joules. I can't imagine being in the center of all that power. Truly a scary time for everyone involved.
If you remember the Christchurch quake a few weeks ago, the quake in Japan was about 1000 times more powerful than that.
QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
There's been an explosion at one of the nuclear power stations. It's not yet known if this will result in a meltdown, as the reactor's container housing wasn't damaged.
@Raylax: that info's been updated already. apparently not only was the housing not damaged in the explosion, they're saying that the radiation levels around the plant are decreasing and pressure in the reactor has dropped as well.
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3
[16:43] James: I should learn these site rules more clearly
[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!
Glad to hear some good new out of this. Nuclear explosion, is the last thing they need.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
And on a damage scale what is the quake actually ranked.
8.9 - the greatest earthquake to hit Japan since records began.
Damage I said, not richter, I believe it is called the Mercator scale, I was wondering because a country like that would have protection and building plans to prevent the worse.
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
Just in case anyone wondered, nothing happened here. The so called tsunami everyone was so scared about turned out to be nothing more than a few tall waves. i think the water level even got lower than usual Seriously, TV scared everyone, they even cancelled the local whale festival....

Their also saying that the next big earthquake may hit California.
My wife is heading to California to visit friends in a week or so and she's a bit unnecessarily nervous about this very issue.
Various news sources have also cited the following earthquake created "issues": The earth was shifted on its axis by 6.5" The time of a day has been shortened by 1.8 millionths of a second. Japan may now be up to 13 feet wider than it was before the earthquake. A 250 mile stretch of the Japanese coast is now 2 feet deeper in altitude.
