I never feel like I'm qualifiied for these threads since I'm as up to date with video games as I am with anime...which is to say I'm not. I haven't played much of any game that came out this except Shovel Knight and Teslagrad? Well, I'm playing a bit of Smash now, but other than that...nothing. Unless I'm forgetting something important...oh yeah, Bravely Default. That was Febuary, right? I guess that's my GOTY by default...
the only thing I'm certain of is that if you're gonna put a game that isn't Bayonetta 2 as GOTY, you need to justify it

I'm sure I've played a few games that came out this year, but all of them would be Android games, and they don't give release dates on the Google Play store (just the last time the game was updated), so I'm not sure exactly when they were released...

To be honest, I love Bayo 2, but I'm probably having more fun with Farcry 4 over any other games from 2014.......is it going to GOTY, no..........but I think a lot of people can make cases for other games outside of Bayo 2. Although I would like to see Platinum to get the nod by publications, for no other reason than it would further Nintendo to broaden it's horizon / support into more mature titles.

Now, I know people will argue that a remake shouldn't win GotY, but this is my personal list and I never played any of the Halo games, nor had I played TLoU, and I must say they are both quite the impressive release.
If I HAD to choose, I'm leaning toward Bayonetta 2. But every game on that list is a phenomenal game, worthy of recognition imo...
As for HANDHELD GotY, here's my potentials...

Handheld GotY is clearly Smash Bros, though I might be persuaded to give it to FFX had it not been a remake.

I always bold proper titles in my posts (no matter whether it's a game, other piece of software, platform, TV show, ect.).
I figure that many people may just be quickly browsing through the forums, and by bolding the "main-topics", so to speak, of my post, it's a good way for people to see whether or not they're interested in what I'm talking about.
