Bioware- They make ridiculously lame RPGs. Two examples are Mass Effect and Sonic and the Dark Brotherhood (which was a waste of not only my money but my time as well), and they're considered to some people, "legendary" which is above over-credited.
Um, you play Baldur's Gate?
Or KOTOR? I like Bioware alot. But I guess RPGs where you actually get to role-play your character and decide how they are going to react isn't for everyone. The thing that bugs me the most about jRPGs is that you don't get to choose how your character will react to different situations in general. WRPGs on the other hand actually include the role play part of RPGs and Bioware is one of the best at implementing it in a computer system. Of course, due to programming limitations, the options of how to react will be far more limited than an open forum RP or a pen and paper game, but Bioware has always done a good job creating enough choices so there is always something you could see your character doing.
As for developer's I hate... I guess that could go to any of the shovelware producing developers..
That's because "WRPGs" are genuine RPGs, in that they follow on from the original vision that pen-and-paper RPGs had. JRPGs are a mutated form that technically aren't RPGs at all, as a critical component of the RPG genre is a genuine freedom to dictate your character's interaction with the plot. Because they're linear, JRPGs cannot have that.
Yup. JRPGs are the bastard step children of WRPGs. They took WRPGs and stripped the most important feature, the role playing bit, and threw it in the trash. In a WRPG, may main character can be a mage, a rogue, a warrior or any other thing I want to build him or her to be. I can choose what skills I want to focus on and how I want to play the game. I haven't found a JRPG that lets me do that... So I consider JRPGs to be adventure games with RPG leveling systems. Cause really, set path with no control how your character develops is not role playing by the traditional meaning of the phrase.
Edit: On the interaction with the plot thing... Some WRPGs can be fully enjoyed without really going near the main story line what soever. These are mainly produced by Bethesda and are major characteristics of the Elder Scrolls Series and Fallout 3.

Don't get me wrong, I love both styles of games, and I'm comfortable with JRPGs being a distinct genre of RPG in their own right (kinda like how horror evolved out of the gothic genre in literature), but yes, they're not "real" RPGs as such.
By choosing not to touch the main plot of a Morrowind or Oblivion, you are still interacting with the plot - you're just creating your own adventure out of the sidequests, or even just wandering the land. These are still plots within the game, and you're still interacting with them.
I could never finish the main plot of Morrowind. It was incredibly boring. I had much more fun wiping out towns
Only ignorance could lead you to a different conclusion... or being the Jack Thompson peep mentioned above.
Eh I disagree with GTA IV - so far, anyway. It's too much effort to drive anywhere fast with all the random turns you have to take. The streets are dark/shadowy, it's hard to tell quite where you're going. Beating the snot out of a street vendor usually requires you to then hop in a car and drive for 2 minutes. The handling of vehicles is too "realistic."
Eh, I prefer GTA III and Vice City - those games are masterpieces, for sure.
Now, to get on topic... uh.. Gajin games? Bit.Trip Core is crap.
Congratulations, you summed up this entire thread in three words. I'm a little disappointed, to be honest, although not entirely surprised. I just wish there were more people pointing out guys like, say, LJN, or whoever develops the shovelware on the Wii. you know, people who actually make loads of bad games.
Yeah, but this happens with every one of these threads. Regarding people not listing shovelware makers, who can remember them?
And it disappoints me every time. You do have a good point about not remembering shovelware developers, though. Although I guess it wouldn't too hard to think back to your least favorite games and look up their developers. Speaking of which:
Tri-Aces - I can't believe I forgot about these guys. They're the creators of some of the most tedious and disappointing RPGs I've ever had the displeasure of playing! Star Ocean 1 & 3, Valkyrie Profile, Infinite Undiscovery, and Tales of Phantasia back when they were with Wolf Team - all absolutely terrible!D=< Still, they did make Star Ocean: The Last Hope, which wasn't that bad(I guess the subtitle was fitting. Then again, so was "Till The End of Time"), plus I still need to try Star Ocean 2, Star Ocean: Blue Sphere, Radiata Stories, and Resonance of Fate once it comes out in the U.S. I'm staying away from the Valkyrie Profile series, though. That was just too agonizing to forgive.
I would not, could not, in a box. I could not, would not, with a fox. I will not eat them with a mouse. I will not eat them in a house. I will not eat them here or there. I will not eat them anywhere. I do not eat green eggs and ham. I do not like them, Sam I am.
Holy freakin' crap, I finally got the moral to that story!

@cheetahman91: Hah! So true. They do make for some very entertaining AVGN episodes though.
Personally, I've never been able to enjoy any of the games made by Pandemic. I didn't enjoy the Battlefront series, the demo I played of LotR Conquest was terrible, and their other titles like Mercenaries don't look that great either
EPIC Games, Infinity Ward and Kojima Productions: all jerks saying we want cinematics in games. All these guys make shooters. So I'm not surprised since I hate FPS.

I agree with Kojima as they make thier games to cinematic.

Now, to get on topic... uh.. Gajin games? Bit.Trip Core is crap.
It's not crap. It's just hard.
No it's just the kind of game that I would play if I was surfing the internet and could think of literally nothing better to do but look on newgrounds and play random flash games. Then I'd find Bit.Trip Core and be entertained for a bit. As it was I bought it on WiiWare, played it for 5 minutes, wondered what the hell I was doing, then decided to play a game rather than a timewaster.
there is no company out there that is as retarded and satanistic as NINTENDO - after a terrible start with the NES and a bunch of sh**ty games involving ridiculous jumping on heads, nintendo thought it would be fun to torture us more with systems like the SNES, N64, and Gamecube. they have a million over hyped games (nintendo pays reviewers to say good things about them too!) such as Super Metroid, Legend of Zelda Ocacina of Time, and Super Mario Bros. but i must say the worst systems they released is the Wii!!!! man, i dont want no waggle in mah gaming! while Sonic Team is working their butts making Sonic and the Black Knight and dragging Nintendo's weight, Nintendo is sitting around making more Mario! man, i dont want no Mario in mah gaming! it only has 77 levels while splosion man has 100, yeah, i counted them! man, i dont want no 77 levels in mah gaming! so thats why nintendo sucks!!
I DONT WANT NO NINTENDO IN MAH GAMING!

I'm sorry, I don't understand what the issue is here. Is it too simple? Or you just don't understand it? The latter can be easily remedied through some videos and a peek at the instruction manual, btw.
