Topic: Game developers you never liked:

I haven't seen a topic anywhere close to this on NL, so I've decided to make a topic on what game developers everyone likes but you don't.

Let me start off:

Bungie- Halo is great in all, but it's not the best franchise ever made (even though it's excruciatingly over-rated), and in my opinion Bungie doesn't deserve as much credit as they get, especially when they made Halo 3 ODST, which really goes to show you.

Bioware- They make ridiculously lame RPGs. Two examples are Mass Effect and Sonic and the Dark Brotherhood (which was a waste of not only my money but my time as well), and they're considered to some people, "legendary" which is above over-credited.

What are some of yours?

Just for you.

Retro Studios, for basically the same reason you don't like Bungie, but with Metroid Prime.
Bungie-Same reason
Naughty Dog-They've just never made a game that interests me. Way more credit than they deserve, especially lately.
Insomniac-Ratchet and Clank, Spyro, my two least favorite game franchises.

PS: BioWare is awesome.

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

I can't say that I don't like Valve, but no gaming company should publicly slander another (Sony) with such disdain and blatant fanboyism. It's one thing to say, as an official company statement: "Currently, we are not developing for the PS3." But it's another thing to basically say: "The PS3 sucks, 360 is better." And this is a professional company that has made some really great games (and still does).

I guess, I find it just a little bit ignorant, that's all. While I do lean in Sony's direction, I'm sure others out there think Valve is a little immature on the issue.

You hate Insomaniac?! That's blasphemy!

Bungie- Same reason as everyone else.

Retro Studios, I suppose. I was very disappointed by the Metroid Prime games.

Sony. They just know how to make games and consoles that do not interest me in the slightest.

I cannot really think of anymore. There are devs out there that I just ignore, but its nothing personal, they just have failed to capture my attention.

you people do know that Bungie also made the the critically acclaimed PC series Marthon, Myth, and Oni Right?

Rockstar- They make the same games with diffrent skins
Activision- They make one good game then the train of crappy sequels come a rollin.
Nintendo- After the Failure of the N64 and they quit making systems all mario games on the newer sega systems have been crap, Good thing Sega still makes good sonic games like sonic unleashed

On a non-suicidal note :

EA Sports: Madden, NBA Live, Fifa, there all the same every year with the exception of when there released on a new console.
EDOS (or however its spelled): Hate everything they had except Arkahm Asylum.
I'll post more later.

Companies have been slandering other companies since the days of Atari. It's no biggie. Valve's criticisms of Sony are entirely valid by the way. As are their criticisms with Microsoft. Anyone who plays Valve's games knows that their "official" position is "Sony and Microsoft both suck". The consoles are an afterthought since it's those two giants practices they dislike. They just won't say that out loud. They aren't Infinity Ward or Epic who crapped all over those who supported them since the beginning. Valve actually still reward and care about the PC gaming community that supported them and made them what they are today. If a developer doesn't like another company, call them out and try to get them to change some things. I would rather developers speak their mind openly about their feelings regarding the industry and not pussyfoot around issues (stares at Capcom) in fear of angering any of the Big 3 or the armies of powerless Internet fanboys. Juvenile comments seemed to work in Valve's favor since Sony decided to listen to what Valve had to say and now Sony is now working WITH Valve to better development strides for the PS3, instead of Valve just working FOR Sony.

So my choices are obviously Infinity Ward and Epic, lol.

Dunno really, I take each game as it comes. Nintendo make the best ones, but everyone makes some good, some bad.

Agree about Mass Effect though - probably the most boring RPG ever.

Forgot some.

Treyarch-Activision needs to use them for something other than shooters, 'cause they suck at making them. They should stick with Infinity Ward for their shooters.
Epic Games-I hated Gears of War.

The Game.

Yeah I didn't understand why it got such great reviews and even got nominated from multiple gaming sites for GOTY?

I also forgot some.

Infinity Ward. I think Treyarch are better than them due to the fact that Treyarch can actually make good FPSs on Wii when IW cannot and are not even going to tempt to. Laziness.

I seen some people put Epic Games and I couldn't agree more! Unreal games were very dull when compared to many other FPSs on other consoles and the graphics ran on the choppy Unreal Engine bleh! Other than that Gears of War is not as great as everyone makes it out to be and I mean come on, I don't want to play a TPS using strategy to take down my foes, then being chainsawed by a 10 year old (and the guns suck too). Very overrated.

@Chrono: I only put Epic for Gears. The Unreal Engine is awesome in my opinion.

Wait so a company decides not to make games for wii when the wii version would suffer horrible then you'd be bitching about how the wii version sucks makes them a bad developer. Also the point of Treyarch along with Vicarious visions this gen was to work on the separate wii version of games.

Also do you not like RPGs in general because even people who don't like RPGs must admit it was a great game.

.

This comment is bordering on retarded. Infinity Ward is a company with limited resources and time, and porting old games to every system under the sun instead of working on material doesn't make sense. Treyarch did nothing but port exisiting material to the Wii, which lends no weight whatsoever to your statement.

Square/Enix/Square Enix-Not into RPGs that much, especially JRPGs. WRPGs are cooler.
