Ever since the whole Salt Lake Olympic Scandal, international sport committees like the IOC and FIFA are weary of awarding the US host nation for these events. I know it suck I would love to see another World Cup held here. But untill these committees can put that behind them US will continue to be snubbed.

I blame every idiot who where causing trouble in yesterdays game between villa and birmingham. I mean how stupid can you be ? BTW im talking about the england bid not usa or any other one
Not only that but they have picked countries that are soooo far away from us so my chances of every going to one is very slim. I mean the closest one to us anytime soon will be Brazil, and thats still to far.

Sepp Blatter was alleged to have told the committee to remember certain media and recent media coverage (ie, the BBCs well timed Panorama programme) before the vote yesterday.
But I don't have any problems seeing the respective competitions in Russia and Qatar, as long as there was no corruption involved, but I'd like to have seen England's "excellent and remarkable" bid rewarded with more than two bloody votes.
I was wondering why they don't pick more, accessible, countries...won't that mean more ticket sales and more revenue?
Well I can see Russia its pretty accessible and they will probably do good ticket sales but Qatar??? Sometimes I think these countries like Qatar just use these events like FIFA and the Olympices so they can get on the map so to speak. To help to develop their countries and to open themselves to the world.

Because Qatar and the Middle East don't have people, right? Or unless you're an American/ European person, your money doesn't count?
Qatar can bank on a lot of very wealthy Saudis, UAE expats, Egyptians and Iranians coming across to watch - soccer is a hugely popular sport in the Middle East.
I was disappointed that Australia didn't get it - we've never held a world cup, but I like the idea of the Middle East hosting one - it recognises the growing wealth and stability in that region, which is a good thing to see.

And the problem with that is? Again, what's with the assumption that they won't sell tickets in Qatar?
What a load of b&*$%ks. Sepp Blatter is an utter p$%*k. I was sooo looking forward to be able to go and see World Cup games in my own country.I'm now doubting it'll ever happen in my life time!!. Mega sad!! The whole process stinks of corruption to me. Wonder how much those votes cost Abramovich and Putin? (who didn't even bother showin up!) and QATAR???!!!!................. WTF!!!????
I'm actually glad we didn't win the bid. We can barely afford to host the Olympics. World Cup too? Don't have anything against the sport (asides it's a bit dull, but that's a personal opinion and everyone else seems to enjoy it so whatever), but come on. We're having to live with some pretty massive cuts anyway, we really want to kill the savings on letting overpaid guys kick a bladder around a field?

I think you'll find the World Cup is actually profitable, in terms of the additional tourism dollars it brings in, and the knock on effect after the event is finished.
It sure would have been fun if the Holland/Belgium bid had won, but it also costs a lot of taxpayer euros that we need to cough up as citizens. Research by several newsmedia tells us the costs and benefits of the bid were portrayed much more positive than they actually would be if the WC became a reality.
Russia has never hosted the event either, which is strange for such a huge and powerful country, so let them do it if they want it so badly.
2022 World Cup...Qatar FTW?!?!?!?!?!?!? The US *Australia *got snubbed.
