I'm going to make a list of sequels off the top of my head. I'll start with some obvious ones.
-Mario -Zelda -Pokemon -Metroid -Pikmin (Lightly used compared to others, but we're still waiting to see the 3rd iteration of this game) -Starfox -Fire Emblem (Not so many have been released in the US, but I think Japan's on 11 or something)? -Battalion Wars 2 -Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series -Guitar Hero -Rock Band -Spyro -Rabbids -Medal of Honor -Tales of Symphonia -Sonic -Star Wars
Okay, now for sequels on other systems. (To my knowledge):
-Metal Gear Solid (this includes the ones on home consoles as well as the ones for the PSP). -Resistance 2 (left open for more games) -Assassin's Creed 2 -Call of Duty -Prince of Persia (Actually, this could be included for Nintendo, too). -Final Fantasy -Gears of War 2 (Story didn't end in that one, so there's still a third one to be made) -Guitar Hero -Rock Band -Ratchet and Clank -Banjo (new to the Xbox; could possibly be included on the Nintendo list, but they've released the first two Banjos on XBLA and the new Nuts and Bolts game on the system) -Uncharted 2 (which, they can really make as many as they want) -Batman (I say this because there's a sequel planned. This one's a bit iffy) -Katamari (Isn't there a new one out? I'll take this one off if I'm wrong) -Spyro -Medal of Honor -Tales -Sonic -Fallout 3 -Killzone 2 -Klonoa: Lunatea's Veil (I also think there was some volleyball game, too) -Halo -Star Wars
Okay, that's all I can think of for now. Obviously, Nintendo's not the only one who makes a bunch of sequels, but I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Let's see....looking over that list, I think I've enjoyed almost all of those games (I've never played some of them). So the whole sequel thing doesn't bother me. Just for fun, I'll see if I can compose a list of new IPs. Feel free to add to this list. First, we'll start with Nintendo (btw, this is strictly retail games, since most games made for Wiiware/PSN/XBLA are new):
-Dewy -Elebits -De Blob -Manado -Klonoa (remake of the first one. This one is arguable, but it's not been released on a Nintendo console before) -Dead Space (sequel, but on a different console. So...does that really make it original)? -Muramasa -Little King's Story (excellent game) -The Conduit -The Grinder (once it comes out)
New IPs for other systems (I'm pretty sure there's more (especially for the 360) but I might not be so well versed on them so feel free to add to this list):
-Dead Space (until they make the second one) -Demon's Souls -Borderlands -Bioshock (until the second one comes out)
Okay, I know there's more, but my head hurts now after making these llists. I'll have to come back later and edit. =)
Croc needs another sequel. Croc: Legend of the Gobbos was an overly fun PSX title, despite the play control. Croc 2 I didn't play much, guess that's because I was more fond of Croc 1 than 2. Spyro 1-3 for the PSX are great.
well i havent played galaxy [for more then an hour] but 2 is coming out so kinda and not at the same time
[anomalous[i know spelled wrong] member] so feenie bet you never got lucky in chat [feenie] ya [tbd] green gabe [feenie] yup i almost drowned in the shower afterwards
Scribblenauts 2 seems like it might just be a rehash of the original... I hope it proves me wrong. But generally core Nintendo sequels greatly improve on their predecessors, so I'm all for 'em. :3
