I normally run Nestopia. It's always worked fine. But today, I tried running Contra. The game started just fine, but when the first jungle screen appeared, the game got all garbled and froze. I tried using roms of the game from a dozen sites and they all had the exact same problem. I tried using FCEUX and Contra works just fine in that. But I'd rather use Nestopia, as I much prefer the NTSC CRT filter over the one in FCEUX. Any ideas ?
Just read the rules. There is nothing in the rules that say you can't discuss emulation. It only says that you can't link to emulation sites. That's all.
@Spottedfeather
Maybe check your version of Nestopia, or redownload a copy. Perhaps it has somehow become corrupted? I have Nestopia (v1.40) and Contra runs fine, so must be something with your copy (or version, perhaps?) of the emu.
It's happening again. Only this time, when the game starts and it shows you in the jungle, the man is frozen in place. All that you can do is shoot left or right. And there is a weird buzzing sound as well. Contra is the only game that I have a problem with. I run Nestopia 1.40, if that matters. After the last problem, I downloaded a new version and it was fine for a little while....but now the character won't move.
Nevermind. On a whim, I did some fiddling and found out that it just didn't like the codes that I had active for Megaman 2. Turned them off and it works fine now....
@Spottedfeather: Ah, that makes sense. I've had issues on occasion as well when i've left Game Genie codes for a game active when running another game.
@Spottedfeather: As long as the discussion is relates to previous generation hardware (I.e. not 8th gen) and doesn't contain links it is fine to discuss.
