Topic: Club Nintendo.... What do you think?

Club Nintendo is doing a new thing offering fan to input codes on Nintendo products on nintendo.com and register products to now recieve products such as free merchandise and exclusive games only availabe to club nintendo members. Im sure most of you know this, but what do you think of the service? I registered all my nintendo products for years and spent a couple hours with the surveys and got my Platinum status and recieved my copy of Game and Watch Collection and was pretty impressed with its collectors value, and to finally get the game in my hands because Japan Nintendo fans recieved this gift couple years back and Americans got nothing. What do you guys think about the service, I think its really awesome being able to get merchandise for buying and registering products and not only extending the warranty on you consoles by doing so.

it sucks that it took us so long to get it, is all. also, i kinda wish that you could register imported DS games; the DS is region-free, so why shouldn't their club nintendo codes also be region-free?

Crappy prize things...I want Wii Points like Japan does it. >_>

I'm looking forward to getting my first non-points prize: a Club Nintendo mug -- it still says "Coming Soon," should I post a thread ranting about it?

LOL Sean Aaron... maybe you should lol. I think its cool that you can actually get free stuff. I'm also looking foreward to gettin my free whatever it is for being a Platinum member. I also am a little irritated by the fact that I cant register my import games seeing as I have quite a few.

Personally, I hope they offer more prizes I'd actually like to buy; more games and hardware, less accessories and trinkets.

Maybe exclusive VC games, for example compilations of other games. Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World would be a great one. Maybe allow people that already own one or more of the included games to download the compilation, and send the old game to other people via Gift. I'm sure DSi owners would love a chance to buy a DSiWare voucher for a downloadable version of Electroplankton.

They could release an adapter that would sit on top of the Wii and plug in to all the Gamecube controller/memory slots. Make it look like an integrated part of the Wii (at least as much as the GameBoy Player and N64DD did for their consoles), with built in memory (for the cards) and built in transmitters for WaveBirds, with dials to adjust which band players 1/4 would have their wavebirds on. I personally wouldn't use it, but a lot of people would probably like it for using their gamecube controllers.

In the never-going-to-happen category, they could add a 'Club Nintendo Member' channel, which would allow you to create backups of the games you have registered on Club Nintendo on a USB hard drive, and play them back without getting the disk out. Homebrew has done it, so it is technically possible, plus Nintendo would at least know you've registered them. They could also add channels that allow you to play Sega CD/Saturn/Dreamcast/CD/DVDd disks; or offer upgrades for the Disk channel, although they'd be idiots to not just offer that as an update for everyone. They could also offer a service, if technically possible, to ship the Wii in and have the internal memory expanded, but again, that should be available for everyone.

More realistic, they could offer a six button Classic Controller. Just copy the Z buttons to the right. Would be good for N64/Genesis titles.

They could offer 'upgrades' to Wii games, for example allow people with x number of points to send in their copies of Wii Fit, and get back a version with the major complaints worked out (the menu downtime, being too slow). Or Brawl with an extra character or two, or Super Mario Galaxy with an extra Galaxy, or Twilight Princess with another option dungeon, etc. Little bonuses to entice people to club Nintendo.

That's what I want the "special gift" for Platinum Members this year to be -- a special download ticket for All Stars. Don't let me down, Nintendo!

Yes! Lately I've been thinking that the greatest thing they could do for DSiWare would be to release Elektroplankton on it, either in one piece or even carved up into the independent segments. I don't even need this to be a Nintendo Club reward -- I'll gladly pay good money for it

Im with you all the way feba. Electroplankton is awesome and is another game so few in the US have played. It actually did release here in the US only in New York for a very short time (ive read), but I imported mine. That would be another excellent download idea. Heck yeah that is exactly what I want for my Platinum membership (all of it lol)

I got a Super Mario Bros. Themed Nintendo DS Game Card holder.....yep, because it's been getting real hard to hold those game cards in their game cases. They keep slipping out >_>

Still, it's a pretty cool collectors item

i think its awesome i got the G&W Collection a week ago & i love it i've even played it its awesome

it needs MUCH more rewards. the only thing they've added since launch is the silver gamecard case/stylus for 700 coins

The american list suck. I wish it was like EU or JP.

LOL.... thought it was funny the home page of the site was about the Club Nintendo today lol. Yeah I got the Game and Watch collection and was suprised at how much fun Im having with it. Then it hit me..... OMG I had two of these watches when I was a kid!!!! If i knew now what I didnt know back then I would still have them right now in my Nintendo collection. Oh the things we dont realize when were children lol.

We definitely need some better prizes to spend Club Nintendo Coins on right about now. I already bought the hanafura cards, which were the only interesting-looking thing on there for me, and I now have another 800 Coins with nothing to spend them on! Come on, Nintendo!

Well, I jinxed it: the mug and the glass are no longer in the list; hopefully that just means they decided not to list "coming soon" items and not that something went wrong with production and they're not coming out at all!

Time to bring this thread back. I like it and over the years it has been very rewarding for Nintendo fans.

Hahaha! @Pichuka97, it's a whole different situation, nowadays.

I'm fine with the rewards, I just want them to have incredible (ahem) EXCLUSIVE rewards for Platinum and Gold status members. Really though, Majora's Mask, Super Mario Kart, Metroid II? We had those before and we can get them afterward! I'm pretty sure the poster set was already on Club Nintendo and the calendar is nothing special (no offense, but I want something that I can use FOREVER, not a calendar that my children will laugh at me for keeping). The cards were cool, but I want a miniature figurine of Mario or a special AR Card or even a Nintendo Coin...

And now I am a greedy b*****d.
