This little Nintendo-published RPG is rapidly sneaking up on us. It's set for release in NA on January 18th. From what I've seen it looks like a fairly traditional RPG. The graphics are toon-shaded and look gorgeous, and the music is pretty catchy. Interestingly, the elemental attacks look very, very similar to Golden Sun, and when you execute them you apparently play a very quick mini-game.
"The other novel touch I noticed was Glory's Overkill mechanic, which rewards you for brutalizing the enemy more than you need to. Any damage you do to a foe that is over and above their remaining numbers of hit points is returned to you, in the form of MP. So if you've got a harpy assaulting you, and she's got 10 HP left, and you hit her with a slash that does 100 damage -- 90 MP goes back to you. I'm always annoyed at having to use ethers and elixirs and the like to restore magic power in other RPGs, so this mechanic, though simple, impresses me."
I plan on getting this title. It comes out on the 18th of January? I might have to wait until april before I can get it. Too many games coming out. Not enough money. EDIT: I'm putting that in my sig!
I already made a blog like statement about it feel free to waste time reading it. Also i'm disappointed in Nintendo's lag of understanding with new IP i wrote all about in the link.
this does look good. i'm impressed. i've really lost interest in my DS, though. if i had a steadier stream of money, i may invest in this and a few other DS RPGs... but i don't know right now. still, i'd say i like what i'm seeing, and if it produces a new Smash Bros. character or assist trophy, then, hey, i'm all for it.
