Topic: Electroplankton Series Impressions

The games are really meant to be experienced with headphones or external speakers, but I find them enjoyable enough through the DSi's speakers.

Hey Warios! Enjoying your new DSi?

Now see I think the sound on these Electroplankton games is actually pretty good. Probably one of the highlights of the game, truth be told.

And sorry Adam, when the Corbster is called into battle, into battle he goes.

Beatnes has 4 tunes Super Mario, Kid Icarus, NES collection which feature Balloon Fight, and Robot. So far the music I made in Hanenbow is very nice and relaxing. Of the two Electroplanktons I downloaded I think I like it better.

Corbie, if the sound isn't "one of the highlights of this game," I don't know what else would be.

I am loving the compositions I can make in Hanenbow. Some of them are really nice. I'm glad I got this. Perfect for relaxation and creative purposes. Such a shame you can't save these masterpieces!

I would LOVE to set these on my Mario Clock alarm as well! Just downloaded Beatnes as well.

Ok, I got Hanenbow and Trapy. Are there any others worth buying (including those that are hopefully coming next week)?

Indeed. It would have been a completely different (and more amazing) game had you been able to save your tunes.

If you like any of the Electroplankton games and you don't get Luminaria next week, shame on you.

Male-to-male audio cable into audacity on PC. It isn't a save, but it's an export and an ability to listen to the tune again! Then turn to mp4 and put on SD card and enjoy playing with it using DSi tools!

Definitely not the most user-friendly or hands-off method, but it's better than letting cool tunes disappear.

Man, this post was really going somewhere, but it just sort of fizzles out after this. Capturing audio is certainly possible, but without the visuals, I'm not sure I'd care as much for repeated listens. Not like it's hard to make new, interesting sounds spontaneously. Not saying it's a bad option, but I don't think it'd do much for me personally. I'm fine without saves.

By the way, I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but there are no "wrong notes" in the game. So anyone concerned that it might require musical knowledge or skill, worry not, though some games you can certainly get "better" at, like Hanenbrow.

It's funny cause I just finished discussing this with the idea of using a DS-to-PC jack. I'd gladly do without the visuals.

@Adam - funny the visuals do almost nothing for me--I honestly didn't realize anyone cared to save them, despite them being somewhat interesting...

Colorful blinking lights and I'm easily impressed. I simply like having sounds grounded in visuals. It's really a core design decision. The creator is a visual-sound artist. I remember seeing some exhibits he'd done that later inspired this, and it's really impressive. His instrument the Tenori-on also follows up on his vision of the union of light and sound. Whether it interests you or does nothing for you, the visuals were at least important to the designer.

Hanenbow is great so far...shall I get Trapy and/or Beatnes? Or any of the other ones out right now (yes, I'm aware that we're still missing five--I'm not going to consider them right now)?

You want to get Luminaria next week. If you like Hanenbrow, chances are you'll like Trapy, too, though I personally prefer Beatnes. Trapy and Hanenbrow both require a bit more attention to make particularly interesting sound combinations, I find. I like both. If you want something different, go with Beatnes.

Ditto, Beatnes rocks. I got them all and I am loving them just as much as the original DS Cart.

I got and bought all 5 too as well and im enjoyin them all!... hope we get the other 5 next week... i wanna play the Lumiloop and Luminaria especially!
