EDIT: Haha, Rec Rec isn't that bad, Chicken, but it's certainly worth skipping. Also, no, there is no save feature or any additional features added. They're ripped straight from the original. I have tried two of them so far and have played the original before. No changes.

Thanks Adam; good to know. I'll still be buying them (at least a few, possibly all eventually...including Rec-Rec, in case I ever have any retarded children), but it would have been nice to know that a save feature had been added.

Oh well. I should be grateful that no functionality has been lost, rather than disappointed that nothing's been added. Thanks for the info!

I suppose sewing needles and stamp collecting are also nostalgic, but not in the same way.

I remember the day I was at a Gamestop that I saw had the retail game, a few days later I went back and asked. "Um, excuse me, do you have Electroplankton?" The clerk laughed at me and said, "Are you SERIOUS!? We NEVER have a copy! Except for that one that got sold about as soon as we put it on the shelf!!!" I said "Oh, ok.", and bought Warioware:Touched instead. In which he replies, "Wow, you came in for Electroplankton and left with Wario, poor choice!" I left a little mad at the clerk's response. BTW, I loved Warioware: Touched. Just felt like the right time to tell this story.

On topic: I downloaded 4 of the Planktons, they're all decent fun, but Hannabow (most likely spelled wrong) is awesomely great. I'd recommend this one.

I'm loving all of them, but I have 500 points, should I buy Bomberman Blitz or Rec-Rec? It doesn't really matter since I know I'm getting a points card for my B-day (on the 15th). But which should I download now?

Get Bomberman Blitz.

Which other ones do you have and are they worth it?

Outrunner

I got the full game at extravision for 5 quid. My favourite one is lumiloop.

I still remember the day I went into Walmart and bought this game the day it was released. I went home and played it for an hour and said WTF! The End.

I was always curious about playing Electroplankton but I could never find it in stores. I had a friend who worked at the the GameStop I usually shop at and he picked up a copy of the game online. We were both looking forward to it because it looked like a really interesting game but after he played it he told me that he was really disappointed with it. He said that it was boring with no replay value whatsoever. I soon lost interest in it but I still remain curious to this day. Maybe some things are best left unknown.

Reactions to this game will likely bear great similarity to the responses to Wii Music. In other words, some will absolutely love it, while others will find it pointless.

I just hope the chosen reviewer is someone who is open to this sort of game. In other words, this one clearly ain't made for Corbie! That'd be about as appropriate as getting a baby boomer who only plays Sudoku to review the latest VC shmup.

Nice comeback, warioswoods. And yes, I completely agree. You completely echo my words from earlier.

I picked up Hannenbow earlier, and I'll probably be picking up Beatnes later tonight. I had fun messing around and trying to get the plant to bloom. I could definitely see me just setting this thing up to run as background noise while i'm messing around on the computer, or if i need to relax after work or something. I like how you can turn on the angle degree notations if you want to get all technical with your plant setups, and you can also switch plants with select to get different ones to try. if you were a fan of Rhythm Heaven's little minigames, these might be fun for you... they're not really 'games' so much as they are 'neat little sound applications'. i just wish you could save the music you create and listen to it later if you wanted. :/

Are these a re-hash of what was previously released on the SD Cart or is there new material, too?

They're the same as the cart, just broken up individually.

Completely agree. Hanenbow is all I've downloaded so far.

If the DSi speakers were actually loud enough, I wouldn't mind it as background noise, too, but the tinny speakers suck.

@ballistikboy: i listen to my DSi all the time playing music through the speakers. i'll admit they're not as good as headphones are, but they're still not bad if you're in an otherwise quiet room and want some noise. :3

I've tried that, too, believe me. With headphones, the sound is awful (with both settings) and without headphones the sound pretty much sucks too. That's my only complaint about the dsi and the ds. Sound.

The sound quality on the DSi will be as good as your headphones, when you're listening to music. It's no different from playing your music files on an iPod or other device.

The problem with some games is that they were optimized to either compress and save space, or to compensate for the much worse sound processing (even with headphones) of the original DS. If electroplankton sounds a bit grainy with headphones, it's either the former or the latter. I still haven't downloaded the DSi versions just yet, so I can't say either way, but it was one of the earliest DS releases, and I doubt that they completely reprogrammed or re-encoded its sounds.
