Topic: DS: Best Nintendo system so far this year

Wii isn't even worth discussing in this topic so I won't. But, 3DS has only had a few really good games and the only great games have been remakes or VC (to be fair though, Link's Awakening VC is the best game released this year).

However, DS's last hurrah or whatever you want to call it has been pretty great. I mean, a new game by Phoenix Wright creator that lives up to being a new game by the Phoenix Wright creator, only the 5th original Pokemon games of the original series, a handheld sequel to cult classic Okami, the apparently amazing Solatarabo and easily one of the best JRPGs of the past 10 years Radiant Historia. That's 5 must buy games.

How many must buy games are on 3DS that aren't remakes? 0. (Pilotwings and Monkey Ball could have been but rushed systems don't get too much content for launch games)

How many on Wii period? 0.

God bless you DS, you are the only thing that makes sense anymore.

well to be far DS had less games then the 3DS when it 1st launched
all we had by this time was WarioWare and SM64 DS (which was a remake)

You could be right! There are a hell of a lot DS games on my wish list! The only thing i dislike about the DS is the crap graphics, when it's not 2d! Personally, i think the 3DS is by far the best Nintendo system since the SNES! The SNES is my fav console of all time....even the design i still find incredible! When Donkey Kong Country appeared....WOOOOOW!!! 2d in it's full glory!

There was Warioware touched and Super Mario 64 DS which is the second best game on the system, with best being TWEWY. (IMO)

I'm not saying DS didn't have a similar problem, but it is awesome now at least.

And Super Mario 64 was a dissappointing remake outside of some fun bonus levels and was actually inferior to the surprisingly awesome minigames it came with.

But if you want me to go into "other systems suck right now" mode to explain instead of praising awesome games, ok. GCN had the amazing DK: Jungle Beat and RE4, one of the most praised games of last gen. GBA got a Yoshi game, a better Warioware and Minish Cap.

I loved my white DSi! I swapped a DSi and DS for a PS3.......I never forgive myself for that!.....But,....i have a 3DS now, and search the internet for DS gems (games)!

@KKslider I really don't get why people think the original was better than the DS version. It has better graphics, new levels, new characters, mini-games and multi-player. people keep complaining about the controls but I didn't find them to be much of a problem at all.

part of me wants to say that we do have 3DS games coming later on in the year that should be great, but the other part of me remembers playing Ghost Trick, Okamiden, and Radiant Historia... i really, really don't know if the 3DS will be able to top those before the year is out. Radiant Historia alone was mindblowingly amazing, but all three of those games together... big shoes to fill for the 3DS.

That said, the DS was like this back in the beginning as well... perhaps later on in its lifespan we'll be saying the same regarding the 3DS versus its eventual successor, that the 3DS had an amazing year and the successor wasn't providing at all (yet). Who knows :3

I'm more of a console gamer so my DS goes mostly unplayed to be honest.

Well for me, having played all 5 games and continuing Radiant Historia slowly but surely, and having already established a top 10 games of the semester, they are all in it (and Inazuma Eleven also, so that makes 6 ^^) Solatorobo is obviously number one followed closely by Ghost Trick and then Okamiden ^^

Well those titles were released towards the end of the DS's life. The 3DS might not be able to top them on its first year, but given time we'll probably see some amazing 3DS titles. Just remember this: the DS launched with a similar library of OK titles and remakes

The greatest system ever is between the Super Famicom and the PS2.

Nothing beats the SNES or SFamicom, if you like......The graphics of the PS2 were flashy and pixelated, like the PS1...The Gamecube had better, non-flickering graphics....but the PS2 had far more games....

So far yes. But by the time Jan. 1st 2012 rolls around, it will be a very different story...

Virtual Boy > All.

Haven't played it yet but Plants Vs. Zombies could be another game to add to that list.

....ytou mean; Vitual Console????....Bytheway....i am playing Link's Awakening....and i love it!...Never played it before, and i was a lil afraid the graphics would be disapointing, but i adore the old fashion stuff so far....I think even 8 bit games looks brilliant on a small 3DS screen!
