Aa Mujou Setsuna is a 3D vertical shooter developed by ARIKA, the guys responsible for the PS2 and XBOX360 Cave stg ports. After watching the clips on the official site i have to say it reminds me a lot of Mars Matrix, well the cube collecting does at least. Each enemy killed leaves behind a bunch of cubes, which upon collection adds to your special gauge.
Collect a lot of cubes and they start to change colour, adding more bonus points. If you clear the screen of cubes they go down a level and start back from the minimum bonus, so the idea is to kill enemies in a timely fashion to keep cubes on the screen and rack up huge combos, as you can see from the bottom screen there's chaining involved.
The game records stats which keeps track of, total play time, number of plays, etc. You can store a replay in memory for future viewing and replays can be shared over WiFi. If you manage to make to the top 10 on the score board you can upload a replay for all to download and view. Aa Mujou Setsuna will be available September 2nd for 500 points. This is the only DSiWare game I've been interested in so far, and somehow I doubt it'll ever see the light of day in the west.
There he goes, Firkraag. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. - My VGscore
Looks excellent. DSiWare has been looking up since the dark days of WarioWare: Snapped, the Mario Apps, and the Master of Illusion "games". Will be looking forward to the release of this one.
