The only way to know if you like the game is to play it and find out. Or watch a bunch of gameplay videos and decide for yourself. No one can tell you if you'll like it because that is impossible.

^not impossible there is still the possibility of a lucky guess

well, it's just a game(a good one too)
I can see why people are bothered by these kinds of situations but as I frequently say:
"if you don't let games get mixed up with reality then there's no problem"

As long as you can draw your own moral line in the sand, and the "realism" of the game doesn't offend that stance.

Have you played older Harvest Moon games? If it didn't bother you then it shouldn't be a problem here. The game doesn't have actual dating like RF4 does, so its less involved outside the story itself.

The above is probably the best answer you're going to see in this thread.

The point was older ones only had male characters, just as @K8sMum pointed out.

@Leafgreenmary
Something worth pointing out is marriage isn't optional in this game, for story reasons, so you can't just skip it. The game doesn't push you to, you just need to to advance the story. Come to think of it though, you might be interested in RF2, you do have to play as a guy and get married in the beginning but also play as your kid which can be either a boy or girl.

Not buying a game like this as long as you can't marry domestic livestock. Not including that option's just pathetic.

But in RF3 you are domestic livestock.

Thank you very much for the kind answer:) And I can play fine as any gender.

^ i would suggest this idea as well. if you just can't wrap your mind around the idea of being led to marry a female character in a game you already own, there's a good chance it'll sour your experience in RF3 to the point where it wouldn't be worth the purchase.

and for what it's worth, i get your original question and don't think you meant offense in the slightest. i wish there were more games with broader options available so that everyone can immerse themselves as fully as possible. I am going to go ahead and lock this thread before any real idiocy comes out of it, though. You've got some solid suggestions to work with, and we wish you the best of luck :3
