Considering. That's a key word.

Viewty my friend, I will agree with you on that - but my personal opinion is that he'd be mad not to... the amount of money Nintendo could make on Mario Kart 7 tracks alone could help pick them up out of their current slump. I'd pay a couple of pounds for the DS Koopa Beach track... double if it's available online to.

They'd probably keep the Animal Crossing events or whatever they're called free and have DLC for stuff not normally in the events.

Agreed, that is a downside to DLC... take Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 for example, that game was only about 7 hours long (less than a third of the original) & they already had paid DLC at launch. As much as I trust Ninty, there is a chance that they'd hold back some of the furniture that normally goes into AC for free & then charge for it. It happens

Well Mario Kart would be awesome.
I can imagine Nintendo doing something similar to "map packs" for like $5 to $10.
It also like that it could revive alot of games that we dont play after we beat them a couple of times.

DLC Pokémons!! OMG!! You gotta catch them all... so you'll need $100 and a credit card! Noooo!

You're actually spot on about that, inorder to make it work you need to smash the Autobot Matrix of Leadership through you're 3D screen. Go on.

I can also see nintendo going over board like that

Naaaw, it would hurt a vital franchise too much. More likely they'd do downloadable map packs for Pokémon... just imagine you've just beaten the Elite Four in the NinjaGirl region on Pokémon 3DS, you go to the eShop and they've released Kanto & Johto for 10$ with a whole new challenging Elite Four and new trainers?

A month later they release Hoenn & ALL of the trainers are Lv100. :faints in excitement:

See, could go badly OR it could go well. It's up to Ninty.

For Mario kart 7, they could have new courses, characters and kart parts. I'd also like to see Namco Bandai do DLC for Tales of the Abyss in the form of new costumes for the characters like they did with the PS3 versions of Tales of Vesperia, Tales of Graces F, Tales of Xillia and Tales of Innocence R. If they do costume sets for Tales of the Abyss similar to the ones in the ones in those games then we could be seeing the following costumes:

  • Swimsuit costumes
  • Maid/butler costumes
  • Idolmaster costumes
  • School outfits
  • Cameo costumes (costumes based on other Tales of characters and other Namco Bandai characters)

I don't think any game so far for the 3DS needs DLC. Maybe Mario Kart 7 but that game isn't fun nor does it support DLC.

Supposedly, it was suppose to?

I'm quite sure that they've left a backdoor in the game so they can retrospectively add the DLC... otherwise Iwata wouldn't have raised the possibility. Perhaps if you jump into the lake on Wuhu Mountain Loop enough times you'll come out the other end with a new outfit? :joke - DON'T DO IT:

Every game on 3DS, at least, are capable of DLC. The games can also be patched, something that has been known even before the release of the 3DS.

Iwata didn't confirm DLC for Mario Kart 7 and Mario 3D Land, especially when there is an article that contradicts what was recently said "games released in 2012 by Nintendo will have DLC provided" or something like that. Anything is possible. And I really want them to patch up the Maka Wuhu glitch...

@shingi_70

I actually wanted that when I heard DSi used SD cards

Would love for that to happen. Actually- when Nintendo releases gen 6 on 3DS, they could update the gen 6 games to work with gen 7 in terms of trading Pokemon. Or, release the next set of games, and just update them so there's a new batch of Pokemon to catch and a new region to explore. It may not happen, but it sure would be sweet. Or the DLC in Pokemon could be special stories, similar to Resident Evil 5's "Lost in Nightmares".

Something..

I'm just going to post this every time (well not every time, only when I feel like it) I see someone mention the Maka Wuhu glitch because I hope that someone will take my idea seriously.

Even if MK7 is completely unpatchable (which I'm assuming it is), there is a simple way for Nintendo to stop any and all use of the Maka Wuhu glitch almost instantly. All they have to do is build a checking function into their servers that disconnects anyone who uses the glitch. Now:
Will this work? Yes, anyone who uses the glitch gets d/c'd and loses 20VR, and they don't get to finish the race. Anyone who was using the glitch to earn VR cheaply instead loses VR. They'll get the message after a few tries.
Is is possible? Yes. Nintendo have the ability to disconnect anyone at any time. In fact, they already have some anti-hacking functions that disconnect anyone who stays in one place for too long or repeatedly moves back and forth. So d/c'ing anyone who uses the glitch should be simple.
I don't see why Nintendo can't do this. As a bonus it would also work for other glitches like the Wuhu Loop glitch.

To keep my post relevant, though, I want to see DLC that actually adds replay value and extends the game's life, rather than making you pay extra for stuff that was already included in the game (Capcom I'm looking at you...)

If the 3DS has not been discontinued SM3DL and MK7 are awesome games, but if the 3DS has been discontinued Sony has taken over the world. It is not true that both Sony has taken over the world and SM3DL and MK7 are not awesome games. Therefore:Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 are...
