A Creative Way to Fight: People recently have been complaining about lack of creativity in Mario games... well Sticker Star solves that issue by offering an all-new way to battle... with STICKERS!!! Find stickers which you can use to fight bad guys and solve puzzles instead of points! All sorts of crazy stickers like the Lucky Cat, the Fan, the Goat, and the Frog Sticker... that's right, Frog Mario RETURNS for the first time since Super Mario 3!!!
Plot Twist!: Instead of the usual "when Mario's not looking Bowser swipes the Princess" business... this time Bowser scatters the Sticker Comet across the Mushroom Kingdom and becomes the most powerful being in the universe, and Mario must find all the Comet pieces and stop Bowser!
An All-New Adventure in Your Favorite World: Well, it's a Mario game, so you know it's gonna be good! This adventure, though, is like no other. Sure, you've played a Paper Mario game before, but this one plays different... it's more papery than ever! Fold and unfold objects, turn real objects into stickers, and peel stickers off of everywhere! This also gives you the feel of a Super Mario game... it has lots of platforming like Super Mario 3D Land or Super Paper Mario, but lots of RPG elements like Mario & Luigi or the other Paper Mario games. The difference? Everything is made out of either stickers, paper, or cardboard! Everything!

From everything to Frog Mario, to Goats, to humor, and to Nyarglebargles, Paper Mario Sticker Star has it all! Don't hesitate, buy this game! Whether you discover it at a local retailer or stumble across it on the Nintendo eShop and want to download it, don't hesitate! Buy this game! Nintendo said it'll be very fun, but very long and difficult... ready to get stuck with Paper Mario Sticer Star? (Get it? STUCK?) Coming November 11th, less than two weeks from today, October 29th 2012! Yahoo!

I agree with the first post. Well sort of, we still don't know that Bowser's the main/only villain (because Intelligent Systems love plot twists).

And for people complaining about items instead of partners and such, while I sympathise to a degree, didn't Mario and Luigi Partners in Time already do this by introducing Bros Items? It's not that much of a game breaking change in my opinion.

Partners were a favorite aspect of the Paper Mario games for a lot of people. They added some much needed personality and commentary to a game that wouldn't have been as enjoyable and humourous without.
I'm approaching this game with cation, simply because it is abandoning a lot of what I loved about PM 1 and 2. Intelligent Systems has yet to make a bad game, though... Whatever. If this turns out awesome, then I'll enjoy it more, since it won't have been on my radar as much.

Will this have an overworld? The first 2 PM's did, but in the Nintendo Direct, it sounded like this game was level based (in one quick shot, it looked like there was a world map, like the Mario platformers).

One thing I like about RPGs, is exploring the game's overworld.

  • The fighting system looks like a lot of fun
  • Bigger emphasis on paper as its art-style
  • Secret exists in levels that lead to different ways to progress
  • Some stickers are awesome (Goat Sticker ftw)
  • Lots of humour

It's going to be great. I just feel as if it could have been so much greater if we would have gotten a big overworld to explore and partners combined with all of this.

It's level based like a 2D Mario side-scroller, so no overworld. The reasoning is that it's built around being portable, and a level is easy to finish on the go without having to keep track of your objective all the time.

^Thanks. Not a big loss. The two games I'm having to choose over (for Christmas) is this & KH:DDD, and Kingdom Hearts never really had an overworld either.

Still not sure which to choose

To be fair, Paper Mario 2 and Super Paper Mario had no overworld either, just doors/pipes connecting the areas. You never logically made your way from the hub world to the chapter areas like in the Nintendo 64 game.

No, it was an overworld. In this game each area has a beginning and end.
Still, Super Mario RPG made it work, so I'm not too worried.

Hi Barbiegurl777, and yes, this game has a peper feel to it, even more than the past titles. And the Wii game Super Paper Mario is actually a different game than this, so I would buy that too, even though it isn't an RPG like this game. If you like RPG's and platformers you'll love this game so I would get Paper Mario Sticker Star. If you just like platformers just get Super Paper Mario. I would get both. And RR529, I would buy Paper Mario Sticker Star. Paper Mario games tend to get better reviews than Kingdom Hearts games.

There's an overworld map, but not like a world hub you can really roam around. There's a town and stuff but so far the world is divided into areas with stages you can jump between — e.g. theoretically you could enter 3-1 right off the bat, although that doesn't mean you'll get very far.
