Topic: The update is for? / New update 4.5.0-10

Just got an update for the 3DS... Anyone know what it does? Probably just background task but...

I first tought that but why would they make the update the day before without any explaination?

I just got an Update for the Wii-U eshop too? Maybe the two are linked

To prep the 3DS to receive Miiverse. You know, background stuff like make sure the 3DS can use the appropriate wireless functions for Miiverse (I have no clue what those are; I don't own a Wii U), or other stuff like blocking flashcarts, eShop maintenance, etc.

Ya. It's a small update, probably just for Nintendo Network, but mainly for Wii U freezing, faster load times, and overall function.

My update took nearly an hour!

For which system? My Wii U took 30 min, and the 3DS took like 15 sec.

Somebody here is a bit too eager here JK Yeah I actually would love to see it come tomorrow or this month, I don't think I could wait until next year for 3DS' Miiverse.
Anyway, what would you do with a 3DS Miiverse anyway? is it compatible with all 3DS games or just Nintendo Network-based games? I honestly don't know for sure how this is gonna work for 3DS since they haven't spoken much about it.

I agree, Miiverse does need to be added for the sake of handheld and console system unity from the same company. Nintendo's trying hard to get the whole combined systems thing working I'm sure, they're just trying to make it look seemless IMO. Combining eShops with a shared account doesn't seem like it would be that hard besides coding and updating the whole eShop on both systems using Club Nintendo accounts, but VC will complicated if they don't want to add the whole Wii Shop to the eShop. Who knows, maybe they're doing it right now, and we just can't see it on the eShop as an option yet. They could just have people add their 3DS friend code to register them together and link that as the main 3DS with no return, but 3DS wasn't made for that kinda, so they're trying to combine new features from Wii U to 3DS I think... Who knows...
