I recently got a pearl pink 3DS standard size, and while I'm really happy with it, I'm a bit confused about some lights I'm seeing. I don't think they're supposed to be there, but because I've only ever had a black handheld before, I'm not sure.
In the space between the bottom screen's frame and the dpad + analog stick, there are three orange lights. I didn't notice them at first, but they're very evident to me now. They show through the pink of the 3DS regardless of whether the system is on a charger or not, and my guess is that they shouldn't be visible to me. The lights look like a square and then two skinny rectangles, going up the space between screen and controls. Since I have no frame of reference, I'm asking you guys.
Edit: I have contacted Nintendo Tech Support, the first time I noticed them. Whoever I spoke to seemed to have no idea what the anatomy of a 3DS was, and couldn't figure out what I was talking about, unfortunately.
Notably, lighting highly affects how visible they are to me. Under bright light I won't see them. At night like this though, I can see the light clearly through the plastic.
Same thing on my pink 3DS with the lights showing through. I thinks it's just the plastic/paint of that model that lets light through more than the other models (I have a few different colors of 3DS)

Oh, so it's not just me. That's such a relief, I didn't know anybody else with a pink one.
I wonder if those exist on all models, but the pink ones are more translucent than the other colors and allow the light to get through? I've noticed that, when in the dark, if you close the 3DS you can see the 3D LED through the back of the 3DS for a moment. Maybe it has internal LEDs that aren't meant to be seen? And that aren't as bright as the others?
