My 3DS collection is lacking somewhat but I would highly recommend Kid Icarus: Uprising and Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon. The two best games Nintendo has released on the platform most likely.

Also the Ace Attorney trilogy is gonna be downloadable soon (assuming it isn't already) and everyone should play those games as they are 3 of the best story games ever (well...2 1/2).

Really good focus on JRPGs too (though more focused on strategy or dungeon crawling RPGs usually).

For an RPG, Bravely Default is a great little game. If you want an old-school dungeon crawler, I highly recommend Etrian Odyssey IV. For a challenging, epic RPG, you can't go wrong with Shin Megami Tensei IV, which is one of the best games on the system. For adventure RPGs, both The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Fantasy Life are stellar games (although ALBW is a bit on the short and easy side, but beating the game once opens up a more challenging game mode). For a platformer, Super Mario 3D Land and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D are both a lot of fun. Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is an awesome Metroid-style game you should consider downloading. Not much in the way of racing games, but Mario Kart 7 is a lot of fun and has a really spectacular 3D effect. For strategy RPGs, I recommend Fire Emblem: Awakening, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars (don't let the Clancy part put you off, as this is a really solid little game), and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor: Overclocked.

Finally, if you're willing to give visual novels a chance, I HIGHLY recommend Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. It's a dark little sci-fi gem that has one of the most complex and interesting stories you'll ever see in a video game along with some fun escape the room puzzles.

Super Mario 3d land - 3ds UNLESS you find it really cheap some where. I paid $40 when it was released & beat the game in literally 3 week's. Look around & see if you can get it for maybe $20 but its not worth $40

3 weeks of gameplay for a $40 Mario game? All the more reason to get it.

All Mario games can be finished within a day, so that's not really surprising.

@Octane,

The last mario title I played before I got my 3ds in 2011 was on my Super Nintendo back in 2002 Super Mario All Star's - SNES. The first mario game I played on my 3DS was Super Mario 3D Land because I figured it'd be nice to get back to playing mario for a change did not think I would beat the game that fast considering the mario titles on my super nintendo usually took me a year if not longer to finish each game. Neatless to say I was expecting a lot more a challenge out of the super mario 3ds game.

I agree it is with out a doubt a great game but just way to short in content for me. I had to play in hard mode just for a challenge. I've never seen Easy, Medium, & Hard on the mario games before until the 3ds.

Happy Gaming! (^_^)

Did you actually do both sets of 8 worlds, find all the coins, and play through the secret level at the end? 3D Land is all about the extra stuff after initially "beating" the game.
