It's fun so far. I love how many aspects of this game's design call back to the normal Monster Hunter games.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (SD)

@roy130390 From what I can tell, better eggs tend to come from more difficult, sometimes optional areas, like a labyrinth or a 50-floor endurance test tower.

@meleebrawler Yeah, it seems that eggs with slight smell in gold nests are the best you can get in this demo. My rarest monster is a blue Yian Kut-Ku for the moment.

Ok, beginning of Sept., I'm going on a week-long trip on the second half. xD
I can nab this then.

Next question. (lol)
This game doesn't have anything like Pokemon's EVs/IVs right?

@Joeynator3000 Aaaahh haha I don't know how to answer that... It kinda does... since there's a random factor that influences your monster's status ( how heavy and smelly the egg is). It's not as important as it is in pokemon, but it does make a difference. You can also modify the natural element of a creature to surprise an opponent. I think there's more stuff that was eplained in the video I saw but I can't remember well.

So I downloaded the demo and tried it out. My decision is made, I will definitely be getting the full game when it releases. I'm not too far into the demo (don't know how long it lasts), but I'm already enjoying it.

The more I think about it, the more I realize this "demo" (it's really more of an early access) is an ingenious way to allow players a chance to get through all the duller tutorial segments that tend to plague games like this without spending a dime, so that once they get a taste of the world opening up and put down cash for the game, they won't have to be forced to sit and relearn everything again.

Alone, a force. Together, a force of nature.

Has this been said anywhere? As far as I know, you can only transfer items from the demo, not entire data.

Welp, demo is over...ah well. At least I can hold onto what I have and don't have to deal with all the tutorials again. lol

Little question about Monster Hunter Stories.
I tried the demo but ......
I couldn't even speed up the speech during events.
But I can speed up the speech during Normal talking with villagers or NPCs (Press A button repeatedly)
Is it also happened on Japan version full game ?

@Reginald it says it on the Nintendo website. It says and I quote " The downloadable demo lets you play through the first few hours of the game, and all of your progress, including the monsters and items you collect, can be transferred over to the main game after purchasing it. Get a head start on your adventure! The Nintendo eShop demo officially launches August 10th"

Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

I tried the demo and it just bored me. It probably gets better later, but I'm not a Monster Hunter fan anyway so I'll be skipping this one.

@Anti-Matter I found that whenever the character was still moving around, I couldn't speed up the text but once the character stopped in a position, I could speed up the text. It's probably done to keep the flow of the scene in the more animation-heavy cutscenes.

@Joeynator3000 Me . Reviews are averaging 8 or so, at least those that aren't foolishly comparing it to a mainline entry. The main sticking point seems to be battle system which is felt to be a bit too simple, but I feel that tends to be true of most games in this genre during single-player, including Pokemon. It's during multiplayer battles against smart opponents that the depth becomes truly apparent.

It also helps that there seems to be multiple ways for your monsties to gain experience besides battling, which on top of them not being random should help keep them from being too monotonous.

I dunno, the battle system seems fine to me. There is some strategy to it at least, not just the rock-paper-scissors thing, but elements as well. And I've noticed some bosses are now starting to cause some trouble for me. lol
