Topic: Monster Hunter Stories finally heading our way.

Saw this coming, finally, nerscylla will do what I say....instead of irritating the crap out of me in expedition hunts in MH4U. (mainly Shrouded, lol)

Anyone else looking forward to this?

Anyways, I think the Generations thread was supposed to be for Stories....but then Generations was announced, so...yeah, here's a main thread for Stories.

I can't wait to play it. Maybe this will be the Monster Hunter game for me. I couldn't get into the other ones.

From what I've heard, MH Stories plays a bit differently than traditional MH. What's the difference? It is still focused on multiplayer?

@Luna_110 It's a turn-based RPG that's pretty much entirely different besides the presence of main-series Monsters.

I'm impatient, but glad Stories is finally coming to the west... this fall. I'm excited to explore Monster Hunter some more, even if I'm holding onto the New 3DS for it. Both Stories or a game with real Monster Hunter visuals would look great on Switch, though...

It's basically Monster Hunter: Pokemon Edition. You raise "Monsties" as they're called in the Japanese version, and use them to hunt main large monsters. It's kinda similar to the main games, however the main differences is that you use other monsters to help you fight, and that it's a turn based RPG.

Highlight of the Direct for me. It may not sell anywhere near as well as main entries (anything trying to compete with Pokemon is pretty much doomed, except for Yo-Kai Watch apparently), but I still can't wait to tear things apart with bonded monsters.

I've somewhat lost taste for Pokemon lately due to personally lacking multiplayer options, so I'm hoping Stories will scratch that pocket monster itch in a more single-player focused setting (but we can still fight each other!).

Yeah I'm pretty happy about this. Didn't think we'd end up getting it.

This is one of the best looking games on the 3DS too.

Too bad it's only on the 3DS though. Would've picked this up eventually if it was also on Switch.

I think just the mainline Monster Hunter games are some of the best looking titles on 3DS. Stories looks interesting, but it's art style is just 'brighter and anime because kids' and it stole the chibi cat thing from Persona when Monster Hunter already had some perfectly fine Felynes.

But aside from that, I think we are all forgetting one thing;

This game was Breath of the Wild before Breath of the Wild. With female Link too, but without any underwater areas either as far as I can tell.

Oh yeah ... I had forgotten about the Zelda DLC for this game! That makes me even more excited for Monster Hunter Stories. This localization announcement was the highlight of the Direct for me. Day one purchase for sure.

@Tsurii I don't understand this hostility. The game has had good ratings in Japan, and most of the people I've seen playing it (gaijinhunter, Arekkz) say they enjoyed it quite a bit (so it doesn't seem to be a case of ''Zelda goggles''). The only real reason for the lower sales seems to just be stiff competition.

It's fine if you don't like what you see, but wishing for it to bomb is kind of an insult to everyone who did play and enjoy it.

But yeah Stories didn't do as well as the main games for obvious reasons. But it might have a chance over here, who knows. I mean, Yokai is doing ok over here...

Also it'll give us a break from the main game until Generations's expansion heads this way.

I have mixed feelings, but not about the game's quality of anything, I'm quite excited and I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it and that I'll probably get it, however my wallet and a bunch of unfinished games make me feel guilty...

@roy130390 Well, they fit an open world game on 3DS and made it look as good as plenty of anime games on PS4. There's gonna be pop-in — who cares? Not everything should be a techy PC game.

I thought I was done with 3DS. Thought I was Switch only going forward.

Monster Hunter Stories, Fire Emblem Echoes, Hey Pikmin, Radiant Historia, Ever Oasis and Culdcept Revolt all have my name on them.

Already have the 6 MH Stories amiibo. Hope the game is compatible even though this version isn't releasing with amiibo in the west.

@JaxonH I think the amiibo will just be announced closer to release, maybe something like E3 or a summer Direct. Monster Hunter seems big enough in the west especially due to Generations that I doubt the amiibo will be Japan exclusive.

@Haru17 Calm down, I never said the contrary however they tend check on trailers so this kind of stuff doesn't show and it was a fun thing I noticed, that's it. There's a reason why I mentioned that 'm excited about the game and I'll probably get it.

Why the need to even mention PC gaming? Lol, I've never mentioned anything about PC gaming not only now... but since I've been a member. Besides, just by logic there's people that care. Before you get intense again, I don't, I'm just saying some people do.

I do wonder if the game will get a sequel....with a bigger monster roster. owo

Maybe the game will do ok over here, who knows. lol
Anyways maybe the sequel could have Chameleos, and some more rideable Elders. owo
