Just how many Monster Hunter games are capcom going to release this year their's this one and then xx and then something for ps4 what's going on in the kitchen.
@Horsemeat It's not that many if you look at release dates in regions. Monster Hunter Stories came out a year ago in Japan (today's release is just for the west), MHXX is Japan exclusive and MH World comes out next year worldwide. So basically everyone's happy except western Switch fans who don't want to import MHXX (if you're desperate enough for MH on Switch, there's a very good guide in the MHXX thread regarding importing).
I was going to get it but something came up. Might get it or Miitopia on the 20th or maybe both. Not sure yet but am leaning towards both games because I really liked the demos for both
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword
Nerscylla is just too cute when freshly hatched and without a tattered Gypceros hide covering it. Also, the close-ups in battle have taught me how surprisingly small the faces of Bnahabra are.
Just started playing this game... holy cow I'm impressed! It's a real love letter to the series, that's for sure. The cut scenes are incredible and I was shocked at just how dramatic the events are that unfold at the beginning of the game.
I love it. This is like a Pokémon or Dragon Quest Monsters game... but with Monster Hunter. That's freaking awesome! The combat system seems great, the art style is gorgeous, and there's so much "MH" ingrained into the world. Like your house with a chest and bed, and a courier for Streetpass and guild cards (sorry, "rider cards"), gathering items and having item sets and outfits to equip the felyne... oh, and of course, a Download menu with tons of free DLC to be offered.
Anyone who likes Pokémon...
Anyone who likes Dragon Quest Monsters...
Anyone who likes Monster Hunter...
Anyone who likes straight up good video games...
MH Stories is worthy of your consideration

Never played a monster hunter game other than demos here and there - they never grabbed me.
But playing the demo for this atm and wow it's good. It's as if Pokemon company actually pulled their finger out and got with the times!
Imagine being 10 years old and having games like this, Yokai and Ever Oasis to introduce you to JRPGs. We had to put up with janky 1st gen pokemon. Sigh.
@Spennymoor
I know, it's an incredible game isn't it?
Maybe this game will get you into the series. Monster Hunter is a game that is really really hard to sell somebody on in the span of a single demo. There are complex combat mechanics at work that takes quite a while to learn and master, and so many other gameplay systems that you don't even experience in a demo... it's a game that you really have to sit down and play for a week to get a feel for.
First time I played I gave up on it after two hours. Thankfully I had a coworker, this diehard Xbox gamer, who bought a Wii U just for MH3U. I thought that game must be pretty good if it could make a diehard Xbox gamer buy a failing Nintendo console. And it was. He hunted with me and showed me the ropes and I'm so glad he did because it's now my favorite game series of all time. And to think at one time I wrote it off and tossed it in my backlog pile after playing for two hours...

@JaxonH strong reccomendation! If the core series comes to Switch in some form I can see myself diving in (I know there's a Japanese release but you get what I mean)
@Spennymoor
Ya, I'm in the middle of playing Monster Hunter XX on Switch... it's so incredible! But I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it to someone new to the series. For people who have played the games before and are familiar with the menus and what to do and where stuff is, it's an easy sell ( I can't believe there was a time where I was going to pass up on this game just because it was in Japanese- thank goodness I got past that mental hurdle because it's unbelievable how easy to play it is!). But yeah for someone who isn't familiar it would be a very difficult game to play, because you would have to be learning the mechanics and gameplay systems all while not understanding anything.
I do think the game will come to the west, I just don't think it'll happen until this time next year because they won't want to spoil their one shot at making the series popular via World.
