Topic: Monster Hunter Generations (Our Toothy Lord and Savior)

That last Rathalos seemed unusually tough and took me over 40 minutes to kill. However, I managed to get an impressive 5 Rathalos Carapaces from that quest, which was exactly the amount I needed so I'm not complaining.

Now that I have good enough armour to survive HR6 quests, I'll need to start doing the tougher quests.

Monsters don't always start with the same strength even in the same mission. Sometimes they are weaker, sometimes they're stronger. Little variations.

I've heard you can even encounter a monster that's already about to die.

I can't verify it myself, but I think it has to do with the weakener food skill.

...I never encountered that before...o.o
Also, I kinda figured Weakener had to do on what monster appeared...lol

I found a video.

It's apparently a thing that only happened in the third generation.

Weakener increases the chances of the monster spawning weak. The more people using it, the better the chances.

....Now that I know what Weakener actually does, guess I'll use it more...I kinda figured it had something to do with which monster appeared. (I used it thinking it would force a Seltas/Jaggi instead of a Jho spawning, lol)

I wish.

From what I hear, it seems mostly useless unless used in bulk by a group.

From what I just read it seems it works by removing the current highest level available.

As in... For example, a monsters strength is measured in...

-3 -2 -1 (0) +1 +2 +3

With 0 being the normal amount. So one person using weakener would remove the possibility of landing in +3, and so on.

But maybe the thread I read was wrong, or that has changed since gen 3.

....Gonna test that out on Jho later then....(since I need to hunt him anyways) Does it work on Deviants?

@Tsurii Huh, that no-flash rule is actually pretty nifty and clever. Provides an incentive AND a show of their flying being impaired without totally trivializing them.

And yes, all of the group-related food skills do not stack. But it seems that nobody REALLY knows what Weakener does. Even gaijinhunter mistakenly thought it affected the monster's SIZE, preventing from being larger than average.

....So no one knows about Weakener affecting Deviants and all that? o.o

Eh...anyways yeah, if I take a break from this game for a bit...chances are when I come back I'd like to do a Grimclaw video, but would need some help on that one. (he flees too often, I'll see how I do with him on other maps first)

Also, just realized after dealing with Drilltusk...I wished there were more monsters that always hit you with a big move after hitting you with a smaller one. Only other one I know that does this is low rank Nerscylla from MH4/4U...

Even though it sucks dying from these attacks, it's still...pretty awesome being near helpless trying to get away from these attacks. lol
