It seems update 1.5 is almost done according to the recent livestream they held. It will feature:
-Huge performance boost.
-Apparently you can play at 60fps, or at 30fps with increased draw distance (it would seem this second mode is limited to the Mario map for now, but it would make sense to make that an option for other worlds too).
-The free Mario Mash-Up Pack will be added, complete with map, costumes, music and textures.
-DLC shop (it's odd there wasn't one to begin with).
With some luck it will include other gameplay related things, but that alone seems substantial.
Edit: ok, just for consistency I’ll post the patch notes:
+Super Mario Mash Up pack added
+Two new texture packs available for purchase
+Three new skin packs available for purchase (the new packs come with several free skins you can use, conveniently my favorite ghost miner is one of them)
+Added coarse dirt and stained glass blocks
+Stability
-Some unspecified bugs fixed.
The game definitely feels smoother (when you’re not playing the Super Mario map). And I believe water has been made a bit more transparent. Draw distance looks improved, might be just my imagination though.
It’s great to see they are still updating the game, for almost a year now. I wonder how well this version sold, it had to do somewhat decent if they’re still updating it.
Just a geek that likes video games, and spends to much time playing Smash Bros. and Fortnite.

Ok I was afraid they would just add new dlc and “stability” with each new update going forward, but version 1.7 actually adds the one big feature this version was missing: the end.
