@Ninfan By games that aren't part of franchises, what if they are franchises that began on 3DS and then got sequels, or do you want 100% standalone games even if they were before a sequel arrived.

Ima just copy and paste the forum text I made on this same topic since I don't feel like completely rewording it.

The 3ds has been out for a long time and when the Switch started to become a huge success people would wonder if it was going to replace the 3ds. Nintendo then confirmed it would continue to support the handheld through 2019 and beyond, stated by Kimishima.
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/04/kimishima_says_ninte...
But I'm now starting to doubt that statement looking back now. Last year the 3ds did not get that many games.
An article was done by Kotaku with their annual series of consoles "The State Of" where they analyze what has happened throughout the current year for said console.
Link: https://kotaku.com/the-state-of-nintendo-3ds-in-2018-1830920352
Lets take a look of the games that were released last year for the 3ds:
January: Kirby Battle Royale
February: Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology
March: Detective Pikachu, The Alliance Alive
May: Dillon's Dead Heat Breakers, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux
June: Sushi Striker: Way Of Sushido
July: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
August: Wario Ware Gold
October: Luigis Mansion port
That about covers it for the notable games that were released last year. We got some new games but also some ports of existing ones. Notice how there weren't that many 3rd party games released, Atlus seems to be the only company supporting the 3ds this far into it's lifecycle. And the first party games are mostly remakes/ports along with some new titles.
Now let's look at this year:
January: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey
February: Yo-Kai Watch 3, Etrian Odyssey Nexus
So far this year doesn't look so bad, until you realize there were no mention of the 3ds in the latest Nintendo Direct. I'm not sure whether we'll get another direct in the future or we'l just have to wait til E3 but I don't imagine we'll get many announcements then.
Another major thing to mention is the decrease in sales, both in software in hardware. The Switch has completely overshadowed the 3ds when it comes to hardware and software sales. Meanwhile the 3ds is getting worse, even in Japan where handheld consoles are most popular there.
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/01/disappointing_3ds_so...
So with the decrease in upcoming games, software and hardware sales, I think the 3ds is pretty much heading towards it's grave.
What do you all think?

@iLikeUrAttitude there hasn't been any games on anything nintendo ,Xbox, playstation., D's, 3ds,.psp , (don't know about pc).last good machines were 12 or 13 years ago gamecube, gameboy dvance, even the +4 spectrum was brilliant. New Mario and sonic games are good but other than that.here's nuting thats really really good. I don't think here's much on switch .Or is tere

@Ninfan There a ton of good games for every platform. You just sound like you're speaking out of pure nostalgia bias.

@iLikeUrAttitude ah there terrible....same old stuff ..need something really brand new and a lot of them ....

Ninfan

iLikeUrAttitude

@Ninfan Lol all the thousands of games available on the different platforms that you haven't touched are terrible and the same old stuff sure bud. It helps not being close-minded to try new types of games.
But considering your nostalgia blind attitude it just seems like nothing is going to convince to try out the new games. If you're going to persist like this then I don't know what to tell you. If none of the 1200+ games on the 3ds seem good to you then thats just tragic. It's not the games themselves that are the problem it's you. Same with the other platforms.

No 3DS games in the Direct definitely tells me the 3DS is dead. As it stands it's mainly just been getting ports and remakes the last 2 years, now there's almost nothing period. I think it's safe to say there's no more 3DS games getting announced at this point. That and all of the usual handheld stuff has now migrated to Switch. It's definitely looking like it's all Switch for the next few years.

@Bolt_Strike True, it seems like Kimishima was getting peoples hopes up when he said he was going to support the 3ds 2018/19 and beyond.
But the handheld has had a nice run and with its imminent death it gives the chance for franchises to migrate to the Switch in HD and with new potential.

The 3DS is dead on NEW releases, but its legacy going to stay for a while. I still hang out with my friends after school to play 3DS games, and don't forget the nearly endless library of games.
