Kinda disappointed it's not a traditional vertical SHMUP like Twinbee but the visuals look nice. Visuals also don't make a game, so how does it play? I assume your ship can travel around the entire edge of the globe, and you just blast at anything that comes your way? It's one of those games where you strive for the high score or does it have an actual ending?

I haven't gotten Aero Porter yet and now I may get this. At least this game is cheapy.

Yeah it looks to be that way judging from a trailer I watched on Nintendos web site. I'm kinda interested to see how this game turns out too.

There's a trailer???? I have to see it now. Are you supposed to absorb enemy bullets though? I mean, if they don't hit you, then it's hitting the shields on the mothership. How does that work?

Oh so I was right. Sucks that the 2 player mode will probably be only for local play so I can't take advantage of it.

I don't like how the trailer shows you all those boss ships. I want to be surprised, you know :/ I stopped watching the video after the 3rd boss they've shown. I hope there were more bosses after that that I didn't see.

I agree that I wish it was just a normal vertical shmup. The latest shmups on DSiWare have been gimmicky. It looks cool though so I'm downloading it later today. You move around in a circle around the other shooting enemies from all sides going off the trailer. I guess bullets that fire off before you kill an enemy just hit the mother ship so that's weird. Hopefully this will be fun.

I bought it and played it. This is cool! It has an arcade mode and the levels in arcade mode have branching paths encouraging multiple play throughs! You have a shield you can use to take hits for the mother ship. You also have a bomb that wipes out everything on screen including bullets. It's fun, I like it so far. I still haven't beaten arcade mode since it's pretty challenging. I've gotten some achievements too. For only 200 points I really recommended this.

There's many posts for Gunman Clive and Unchained Blades but barely any on Galaxy Savers. Not many SHMUP or similar fans here.

Anyone buy this yet?

Are you sure??? In the GS article on this very site, it says it has a 'survival' rule and 'survival' usually means 'endless' in games. I could be wrong though. Judge for yourself with a cut & paste.

Arcade Mode: Protect the mothership from incoming enemy invaders, clearing one stage at a time. A boss character lies in wait in the last stage.

Survival Rule: Clearing the Arcade Mode in Single Player will unlock Survival Rule. In this expert mode, the mothership's barrier is not replenished at the end of each stage and there are no Continues to use when the mothership is destroyed. Are you up for the challenge?

Challenge Mode: Pick a stage of your choice from those you've cleared in Single Player / Arcade Mode and challenge yourself for the highest score. The high scores shown in the Challenge Mode are separate from the Arcade Mode. See if you can claim the high scores on all the stages!

I think you didn't see my earlier post. I love it. It's a GREAT game for only 200 points. Arcade mode has branching paths so I'll be sure to come back to it after beating it. Challenge mode is cool. Multiplayer, achievements, rankings, different ships to use. It's cool. Yeah, it gets kind of repetitive but if you're a fan of shmups I doubt you'll get bored of it too fast.
It's a shmup with a gimmick. One that adds a fun twist rather than detracting from the experience though. I didn't even know about survival mode. That's awesome. For only 200 points definitely pick it up!

D'oh! You are right! I didn't notice your earlier post! Sorry! Sounds like a fun game though!

It probably isn't that there aren't many SHUMP fans here, it's probably the fact that it's DSiWare (not that that's a bad thing, but it seems as if most people now overlook DSiWare, now that "3DSWare" is now commonplace).

Well, that and the fact that Unchained Blades & Gunman Clive have been known about for a longer period of time (so they've built up hype).

Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Sound great! Thanks for the impressions, @Retro_on_theGo! I will be sure to download it to my DSi after coming back from Japan (even though I have a new 3DS waiting for me at home haha). :3

I will probably pick this up soon. I have such a backlog of games. I wish this had online co-op. When will they realize that Local Wifi is a bust in North America?

Still playing 3DS but will have Switch soon for multiplayer with friends. I miss you guys! Adam, Joni, Gavin and the rest of the Blue Rogues from the Phantasy Star Zero Days.

Realized I didn't talk about gameplay much. If you've seen the video in the eShop you pretty much know how it plays. You move in a circle around your mother ship killing enemies and taking bullets. The moving around is kind of slow but not intolerable. The fire is responsive and enemies drop power ups to increase your fire power. It's hard. I still haven't beaten arcade mode but I'm having fun.

Sorry. I chose Aero Porter over this. Only reason being I've been wanting it since it came out. I'll get Galaxy Saver possibly sometime this month. This looks like my kind of game so I am sure to get it eventually.
